  3. Well been thinking about it for a while going to runnings and dicks sporting goods. Not finding what I wanted. So went to 3 different places today. Nothing caught my eye at first 2 places. Was looking for a rifle scope combo. Was looking at several different calibers. Finally found rifle I wanted in caliber but they couldn't get the rails to put a scope on it. Finally he reaches down and comes up with a savage axis II 7mm08. Camo synthetic stock light. 20 inch barrel. Caliber I was looking at. Put a buck masters sig Sauer 3x9x40 scope on it and boresighted. 4 shots I was with in a baseball at 50 yards. Got it set where I wanted it. I'm happy was looking at the Mossberg Patriot but they didn't have a caliber I was looking for. Now I'm going to try a few different ammo brands to see what she likes best. Also got a buddy who said he's got the stuff to reload also. Finally found 3006 ammo too. I love the feel of the rifle. Firing don't even feel the recoil. I'm happy.

  5. Despite it's toasty idc. I've got time as I worked from home today. Last time I was in this spot I passed three 2.5 yr olds and one 3.5 yr old buck, and took a mature doe in two sits. Lush green stuff behind me, creek and swamp bottom in front of me, and standing corn to my left. Perfect marginal wind for something cruising. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

  10. You’re not kidding! I tell people if you go after your deer too soon, all you’ll do is push it and lay a lot longer scent line for the coyotes to come across. Left to die in its first or second bed and your odds are better.

  17. Shot this buck on Sunday. Came in with a big doe and another bigger buck, almost had the larger one but didn't present a good shot. I have pics from last year of these two same bucks traveling together, both got a pass last year as they were much smaller. Hopefully run into the bigger one during the rifle season. I know they are the same two as the larger of the two has a freaky rack, same exact rack as last year just alot bigger.

  18. My first deal fell through and thought it wouldn't be built until next spring. When buying the tractor the owner gave me the name of a contractor that specializes in barns/garages. Called and he had a window to build so I took it. 24 x 32 Gambrel style. Big 4 x 4 windows, 16' overhead door and 1 exterior door. Board and Baton siding. 10' walls. Green metal roof to match my house. Stairs to the loft that will be a finished room for guests. Exciting to see the walls go up today!

  25. I don't even know where to start. I can't thank our hosts enough. Gracious enough to allow us a bed, meals and stands to sit in, but more importantly a deer camp experiance, commrodery and the opportunity to make memories that will be heard for generations. Between my son, my father and myself there isn't a way to show the magnitude of thankfulness in words or actions. Last year we were given the opportunity to take my 7 yr old son to PA to chase his first whitetail. It was very important to me that we all get to share deer hunting together as tomorrow is never promised and my father is having trouble getting in and out of the woods these days. I was willing to try anything to increase the odds of us all together for Kaidens first deer. Well, we did dark to darks, we moved setups and we tried bow and rifle season but weren't able to score. My son never showed an ounce of a "give up" attitude, if anything he was more motivated to get back after each trip. Well, all his patience and efforts earned him a real gift on this trip. We arrived to camp shortly after 4pm Friday. We had already had a plan to hunt "the tower" with the rifle in search of a doe, then spend Saturday in a stand back in the timber with the xbow in search of a buck. We pulled in the driveway and were able to see a group of deer feeding directly under the tower. We grabbed our gear and headed up to the tower in the ranger, bumping the deer back into the thickets. We setup, took our first 22' PA season selfie and had 2 small doe enter the field. I had Kaiden practice getting on them in the scope of his great grandfathers 6mm rem 700. He switch between the 2, slowly moving and taking his time getting the crosshairs "right behind the shoulder". Then, she stepped out. A nice mature doe. She fed in the shade for what seemed like forever while we all stood there watching. Finally, out of nowhere whe decided to start walking with a purpose right out into the field. I saw my son having a head time stating on here as she was moving fairly fast, so I told him to get on her and tell me when. He hunkered down, got focused and gave me the word. A little MEEHHHP, she stopped, he took his time and squeezed one off. I heard the thump that I've hear many times before and knew she was dead. We watched her bound a few times and pile up in the field. The celebration that followed is something I know I will never forget. To be honest its hard to even write this without going right back to that feeling. 3 generations sharing the moment, using my grandfathers rifle, all together in the tower. Once we were able to gather ourselves we went down to put our hands on her. My son had to track it even know we saw her go down. Of course, he found first blood and led us right to her. Again, another celebration. We were able to spend some time standing over her, reliving the moment and listening to my son tell his version of story. Again, I can't thank our hosts enough for not only allowing us the opportunity but for sharing in our excitement. I was able to get the shot on video, and I'll try and get it uploaded to YouTube asap. Here's some pics of Kaidens first deer, a nice mature doe with a red mohawk down her back and a cool double throat patch. One last time, THANK YOU to our hosts. We are forever in your debt as there will be no way for us to repay you for the opportunity. Sorry for wasting a few cell cam pics especially since I have an interesting little follower out there.... you know us NY guys.... Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

  26. The biggest risk to our rights as hunters comes from supporting far right lunatics, the likes of which openly endorse Q or are on record rejecting the separation of church and state. Biden was a stopgap candidate with a long track record of moderate and centrist positions. He’s also an old, white, and straight guy, an irresistible combination for many lifelong Republican voters who wanted to pull the country out of the Trump hole. Eventually the Democratic Party will put forth candidates as intellectually inviable and unfit for office as Marjorie and Herschel. Neither party on the far left/right extremes is concerned with our hunting rights. It’s time to stop voting with your middle finger.

  29. I believe there is no charge BUT there should be a mandatory "tip" to cover their expenses and time. Gas, dog food, headlights, flagging tape, cold High Life, first aid for the pups...that adds up. I would say minimum $50 just for a deer search to show up-but I bet he/they would try to refuse it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  30. When the artist tattooed the snowflake in the small of your back did you ask for it to be crisply defined so that everyone could see how special you are, or melty and droopy to reflect your continual state of "woe is me"? 67% of those assisted suicide cases were people with terminal cancer. That is the cause of death. Assisted suicide in the manner of death. I had a friend who chose assisted suicide in Toronto. His stomach cancer had taken over and he was in constant pain with a prognosis of a few months if not weeks. Rather than subjecting his family to watching him waste away in severe pain, he and his wife decided this would be best for everyone. On the day, he threw a party at the hospital for his family and friends so that they could say goodbye. A few hours later, at the appointed time, he nodded at the medical team and they wheeled him out with his family at his side. In a little while, his family came back in to say he was gone. That is an honourable and ethical way to die. RIP Rob.

  31. 10/21/22 #1 Luna and I tracked a buck this morning that had been gutshot last night with a muzzleloader. The hunter did exactly the bright thing and marked the trail the deer left the field on, then backed out. Luna locked on easily and quickly took us a meandering 563 yards to the spike. Unfortunately the coyotes found him before we got there. I’m sure he had been chased by them, that’s why the track was all over the place. #2 The second track today was for what was thought to be another gut shot last night. The doe was shot with a bow in a food plot, with other deer present. This was the hunters first deer. He had to work today, so his uncle took me out there. The hunter had seen the doe run to a trail up at the far end of the plot and enter the woods. For some reason, Luna wouldn’t locked on up there, but in we went. After a few hundred yards she went hot. We never saw the deer she excited about, but I believed this doe we were after was most likely dead, so I picked Luna up and took her back to the plot. We went back to the trail she had been seen entering the woods from, but Luna wasn’t interested. She walked back toward the hit site about 40 yards and entered the woods there. She circled through the thick area, eventually coming back out and went through the plot in a different direction. We entered an overgrown area and started up a trail. Luna changed her mind, turned around and went up a different trail, this time taking me right to the dead doe. She was less than 100 yards from where she was shot, but never would have been found since it was believed she had gone in the opposite direction. It turns out she had been shot in the neck. There must have been real good blood, but heavy rain last night washed it away.

  33. I am a builder and ran a framing crew for 30 years .In framing those wall braces are called Wind Braces , Corner Braces , Diagonal Braces etc. The frame would not pass inspection if I didn't have them installed in the walls at every corner . N C is correct that there are many ways to accomplish installing them . I like these metal ones instead of cutting the wall studs to install a diagonal 2x4. They are strong , fast to install , and they leave you the room for insulation . All you do is snap a line at the angle then cut the marks with a circular saw just deep enough to install the band . Usually takes 2 cuts with the saw to make the cut wide enough for the metal. Once the band is tapped into the wall studs you nail the band in on every stud plus the top and bottom of the band This link shows you what they are and how its done https://www.whitecap.com/p/simpson-strongtie-twb-11333-22-ga-g90-galvanized-steel-wall-brace-113040/twb12/137twb12?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-eaxpqr8-gIVDbjICh1xbgBCEAQYASABEgIV9PD_BwE

  38. Once again, I ring a bell and you come running. Damn, dude. I clarified the bullshit Canadian AS thing that you regurgitated from a July tweet as I have a little actual experience with AS. At this point, I should think you have enough life lived to develop original thought and not continually have to parrot others. You're like the nutty conspiracy version of that college guy in Good Will Hunting. How's your stated, "I'm ready to sacrifice my body or life for the cause" thing working out for you? Have you found your goal? Your raison d'être? Once decided, will you get the word "warrior" tattooed under the snowflake? I'm thinking that "Snowflake Warrior" would be an very cool username for you. My morning: By the way, it's "deep seated" not "deep seeded." Common mistake.

  41. Hey lefty, I could refute most of what you posted about terminal cancer in Canada by providing data to show how little treatment people can get there for cancer from the start. But because you chose to start off your post with an uncalled for insult, totally unrelated to the issue, as most leftist, progressive, Marxist, totalitarians choose to do, you are unworthy of any reply and prove yourself to be closed minded and ignorant. Do you ever wonder why so many folks ignore you?

  47. 10/24/22 #1 This track was for a 4 pointer that had been gutshot last night. This was the young man’s first buck. He and his father tracked it for a couple hundred yards last night, quitting when it crossed a blacktop road. We started at the hit site and Luna quickly took us to the road and crossed over. She then ran parallel with the road and we ended up at a creek, next to a bridge. Luna wanted to cross, so I picked her up and went up the bank to cross the bridge. I was told we didn’t have permission from the property owner to enter, so we waited while the hunter went to ask. Permission granted….we can continue! I took Luna down to the other side of the creek and she locked back on. 50 yards down the creek we found what was left of the buck laying in the creek. He had travelled 1/2 a mile. The coyotes had really done a number on him. #2 Our second track was for a young ladies first buck. She was in school so unfortunately couldn’t be involved in the recovery. This was also a known gutshot. They had gone in looking last night and bumped him out of a bed. They left at that point, going back 2 hours later but not finding him. Luna made very short of this 200 yard track. Kunox will be back to work tomorrow.
