rob-c
With everyone talking about the bows they have owned in robhuntandfish thread. It got me thinking about my bows I have owned over the years. I tend to find something that I like and stick with it for years . So let’s hear what you had .... 97 PSE nova , didn’t know much and the bow was way to short of a draw for me . 98 Hoyt magnatec , finally got a long draw bow to fit me, killed a pile of deer with that bow. Shot this bow at 78 lbs for many years when I was younger, I had some great kinetic energy numbers with this bow.. 04 Hoyt protec long draw , backed this one down to 73 lbs . very very accurate bow .started getting picky about the deer I shot . I did kill 2 of my biggest deer with this bow. 2014 factor 34 long draw , 65 lbs and shoots faster with a heavier arrow than anything previously I had. really like this bow a lot. has a great draw cycle, shorter axle to axle that works a ton better in my climber. Shoots every bit as accurate as my protec. I have shot a few doe with this bow but no good bucks have walked out in front of it yet.. Uncle Nicky
I got into the game late. I bought a used Bear compound bow, I still have it. Killed a few deer with it. When crossbows became legal in PA, I jumped on the bandwagon quickly and bought a Barnett. I liked hunting with a crossbow, killed a lot more deer, but the Barnett was a headache from Day 1, it was at the factory for repair every year after hunting season. When I cracked the limb on it, I tossed it in the trash, and bought a Horton (which I still have & use). I will probably never buy another bow or crossbow unless mine break, I just can't catch the bug that most other guys do for archery.
Doc
I have not done a count lately, but I would say that I have close to a dozen bows currently hanging on the wall right now as well a several that I have sold over the years. Most of them were high end bows when I bought them. I am counting recurve and compounds. There was one recurve that had to be thrown away because of heavy checking. A SIDE-NOTE: That reminds me, if you have bows that are showing structural flaws, don't just set them out with the junk at the side of the road. Either make them completely unusual of attach a note explaining that they are in dangerous condition. There are an awful lot of trash pickers that will use these things or place them in a yard sale or flea market for some unsuspecting newbie to try to shoot. moog5050
I am going to guess and say 20-25 compounds and about the same number of recurves. In the past, I bought and sold a lot - too many- used. I haven’t bought a compound in 3 years. Have a 2014 obsession Phoenix that shoots great. And am trying to keep recurve purchases to a min. Have 5 currently. Best buck was killed with a black widow. Robhuntandfish
I have only had 6 I believe and two of those were for bow fishing. Have had 4 bear bows for deer , but didn't get into a lot of bowhunting til about 10 years ago. Only dabbled with it before. This will be my third season with the latest bow. Buckmaster7600
I’m 30 and have owned 18 that I can remember. Half of the fun of Bowhunting for me is getting new bows and getting them to shoot perfect, spending time in my basement tuning a new bow is something I enjoy just as I enjoy reloading and getting rifles to shoot their best.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lawdwaz
First hunting bow was a Bear Grizzly recurve, circa 1976? I went to the compound with a Darton SL50 around 1982-83? Went "backwards" in 1987 or 88 to a Bighorn recurve. Ended up with another Bighorn, a couple Great Northern and a Robertson. Then a Kohanna IIRC. Pretty sure it was 1999 that I walked into Nick's Archery at noon on the second day of gun season. I said hello Roy.......he looked at me and said WTF are you doing here? He knew I was a traditional shooter and being the second day of gun season, his second slowest days of the year he wasn't expecting to see much traffic. I told him I was done with the stick bows and needed a wheel bow (again). Walked out with a deposit on a Darton Maverick........... Kept that bow for a handful of years then went with a Bowtech Guardian. And a few years later that was tripped for my current bow, a Elite Answer. I believe this will be my 5th year with that bow. No plans for a change, maybe this winter I'll think about it. Edited August 26, 2018 by Lawdwaz

Red
Years ago i would buy a bow from dicks or other hunting stores use for the season then return it . i did that for almost 10 yrs. The bow i use now parker legend xp I've had it for 8-10 years last year i stripped it down and placed everything on the bow to make it feel like i got a new bow. I don't see me getting rid of it its EZ cam is very smooth and easy on my shoulders. Plus its a very quite and light bow.

Rattler
In 48 years of hunting, I've bow hunted 42 years. I've owned 15 recurves and 5 compounds of all different makes. My first recurve was given to me by my cousin when he deployed to Vietnam in the late 60's. I learned with it for years before I was old enough to get a hunting license. I hunted firearm only for 6 seasons before I got my first bow license. Since then many deer have fallen to my arrows. Currently I have 3 recurve bows that I use and only the Oneida Phantom compound, which isn't a typical compound. I recently broke a limb on my old Browning compound, which was just a backup bow anyway. It usually take me 1 or 2 seasons to get a bow tuned perfectly, so once it's tuned i will hunt with it until it starts to fade. That's usually 5 or 6 more seasons. I will use multiple bows in a season too. I'm always striving to simplify things though. Having only the 4 bows I have now is the simplest I've ever achieved. Bionic
This will be my 4th bow season, still on my first compound, which is a Mathew's Mission Hype. The shop recommended it to me due to its highly adjustable features for me, since I have the prosthetic arm. It has been a great bow for/to me. DirtTime
My first bow was one of those stick bows from Nichols, it was red and came with three wood arrows for like $20. Lost all three arrows the same day playing that silly game where you shoot the arrow straight up and the last one to run wins. Darton ( I do not reacall the model, bought it used. String broke. ) Jennings Gale Force Hoyt Spectra Raider in the brown camo Browning Timber Wolf Old PSE Thunder Flite Express ( bough used, again, string broke, pics on here IIRC ) Teton Alpine Lite ( Given to be my Jeremy K, bow did not fit, so I passed it on to another member here ) Current: Diamond Prism Edited August 26, 2018 by Rob...
