nyslowhand
No one watching or following the team? Granted I know nothing about soccer or the rules, but it's still entertaining to watch! Games against Spain, France and esp England were ... intense and very physical! Wednesday's Sweden vs Netherlands game was.. well after watching for 120+min was boring to say the least! Go you USA girls!

nyslowhand
You go girls team for winning World Cup! Pretty physical match, but US women's team showed what they're made of! Congrats to US men's team for making finals, but did come up short.
Rattler
All athletes should stick to the game and keep their nose out of politics. Being good at a sport doesn't mean you are any good at anything else. They would be getting more respect from America if they stuck to the game. They've already started into the equal pay crap.
Hunter007
Don't watch it, saw the one with the big mouth on the news . Now I'm really not going to watch it !!!! Dumb athletes should stick to what they are good at same goes for all the actors with the same bad habits that think there opinions on politics means anything special. crappyice
They've already started into the equal pay crap.I do not follow the game or the finances behind men’s and women’s soccer. However, as a father of a daughter (and two sons) I would like her to be treated(and paid) as an equal to men for the same job. While I don’t love when athletes become political, it is their prerogative to use their notoriety how they choose. It is our (the masses) prerogative to ignore them cause they are “just athletes” or listen to them cause they have something worthwhile they are saying. The equal pay fight has been a goal(get it) of the women’s soccer team for quite some time. The “I wont visit the White House” statement probably hurts that cause since you immediately anger Trump supporters which are many - and many who possibly agree with your equal pay stance. Merlot
Women don't attract the fans like the men, therefore, the lesser pay. Then some of the US women interject their politics into the mix, which ticks me off. That Rapinoe can stick it. Sorry, but after the little batch decided to go political, I was pulling for the Dutch to beat them. Thankfully for me, soccer has been put to bed for the next 4 years. Boring sport...great sleep aid.
Rattler
Athlete pay in sports is based on the amount of money the sport brings in. Women's sports do not bring in the revenue the men's sports do. The women know that. So asking for the same pay as the men is either a socialist attitude, or a request for preferential treatment. Should a lesser known female entertainer get paid as much as someone like Garth Brooks, when they bring in far fewer fans to a venue? Neither socialism or preferential treatment is conducive to American life. If they are an American team, they should respect American values. I have 2 daughters and a grand daughter. I teach them things are complicated and fairness is quantifiable. Never hate someone because they have more than you. I teach them a thorough understanding of Economics and free market capitalism so they will understand how it works in the US. When two jobs are absolutely identical, say an assembly line worker, two people should get paid the same for it, if all other factors such as experience and productivity are the same. The idea that women do not earn equal pay for equal work in the US is a Leftist Marxist myth. Edited July 8, 2019 by Rattler
crappyice
I don’t disagree with either of the two above hence my statement about me having no idea about the finances of women’s vs men soccer. I am also not a fan of quotas (need X amount of X type of people) give me the mostly highly qualified people for the job. Women’s equality however is a fairly new issue - it’s only 100 years ago that women could vote. It takes a long time for long standing thoughts to levelSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

dbHunterNY
i'm glad USA had a great showing for men team and women kicked ass. i've also read published sources saying women's soccer pulls in more income than men's soccer. if that is or ever ends up being the case i think they should make as much, if not more than the guys. all that said Rapinoe admitted that our country is mostly great and has allowed her to do and achieve what she has. that means you stand and hold your hand over your heart and damn well mean it. standing up for what you believe is right and using your fame or notoriety to send the message is acceptable but don't be disrespectful and plain divisive.
phade
World Cup income is only one portion of overall national player contracts. As someone who played soccer and was in the US development programs, many of you are missing that key critical part of financial worthiness. I don’t know why the women’s team doesn’t talk about it however. For the past three years, the women’s team have generated more profits for the US soccer federation than the men. That’s the US governing body which signs the contracts and pays all wages. How would you feel bringing in more profit for your employer than your peers and being compensated less? Probably not good.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

steve863
I've come to my senses over the years and now waste very little of my time watching team sports of any kind. To me soccer is by far the worst and most boring. I guess there will still be a few parades and such for them but I for one am glad this women's world cup is over and done with and I no longer have to hear about it in the news or see that stupid pink haired lesbian being praised like she is some sort of gift to humanity.

First-light
Game was wonderful, USA dominated but just couldn't put it away first half. Second half was different with USA scoring twice. Rapinoe (she did stand in this final game) should stand like the rest of them and not dishonor the country. Other than that is was a great run! ApexerER
With a 14 year old daughter that is very heavily into soccer we watched all the world cup matches together. I was never into soccer until my daughter started playing it. Now I find myself watching it on TV even when it isn't the world cup. My daughter has been to a Megan Rapinoe soccer camp and has done drills with her. Now she hates her....When she scored last night my daughter was wishing it was anyone but her. We were rooting for the team and USA but I used Rapinoe and her big mouth as a learning tool. Actually, that isn't totally true, my daughter has heard enough from me over the years that she vowed dislike for Rapinoe before I even heard any of the stuff because she saw it on Instagram or someplace. My daughter was telling me all the BS she was spouting and how disappointing it was to hear all that from her and that turned into a discussion. I hope my daughter keeps the views I have instilled in her through college....

It looks like the one woman that was holding it has NO idea what proper respect and etiquette is for the flag (as is the case for many young folks) and dropped it to do their little dance thing. The one woman that walked in and picked it up when she saw it hit the ground knew what was proper.
