what's your favourite hunting dog and why

My personal favorite hunting dog is the German Shorthaired Pointer. They are the most versatile breed in my opinion their style and grace are topped by none in my opinion. The only con I could ever complain about is the hyper fits of non stop energy. I breed for results not $. The dog below is Rooster my male.

My favorite kind of hunting is teaming up with a good hunting dog, nothing is more fun for me. I have trained and hunted with various hunting dog breeds since I was a young fellow, my favorite breed is the Airedale Terrier. I have hunted just about everything there is to hunt with a dog in NY with my Airedales with pretty fair success. Their versatility on a wide variety of game both fowl and fur is unsurpassed in my opinion.

"Tucker" was one of my favorite Airedales pictured below treeing a Squirrel.

Coon hunting was probably my favorite game with dogs and while my Airedales did fairly well at it a top notch coonhound is what you want if serious. I have quite a bit of experience with several of the coonhound breeds and there is certainly top performers in all but I settled on the English coonhound.

 "Eli" pictured below was one of my favorites, he was about as good as they come.

I've run hounds my whole life. Been behind all flavors running different types of fur but for the past 10 years I've been running redbones. They seem to please me better than the others. This is a pic of the one I'm hunting now. She was about 6 months 8n this picture

My preferred dog is a Brit, because they point, not super high energy, great family pet and great hunters.

My favorite hunting dog , is any breed of hunting dog that's knows how to hunt, that I'm hunting with at the time.

Never ran trash either

My Dads brit, named duke. Many times he has flushed pheasants after other dogs have passed the same area. Super happy family dog too.

My buddies dog was a Britney named Marney......was a amazing to hunt behind. Same as Zeeks Dad's dog......we would work and area that already had hunters over it all morning and she would still sniff a few out. I'll have to dig a pic of her up tonight.

LLewellin Setter. They are basically a field bred English Setter....in other words, kept to the original English lines for hunting, before the AKC got ahold of the breed for conformation. They run much smaller than the modern English Setters. Compact, fun, very smart, great family dogs, but need ALOT of running/exercise as hunting is all that is on thier mind 24-7. I dont think I would have another though. For them to be happy they need way too much exercise than I get offer.

I’ve had 3 lab coonhound mutts in my life and I’ll never have a different dog. They’re the best family dogs have all been very healthy. Will hunt all day but don’t mind a day laying by a wood stove. My current one is Henry and he’s a great rabbit dog and loves flushing partridge. His mom was a purebred lab and his dad was a walker coonhound.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever. It's cool watching him work on geese and the best part is at the end of the day he goes home with the guy who brought him.

My favorite hunting dog won’t hunt at all!! My Blue Weimaraner, Harley, is hands down the best dog we have ever had, but he is terrified of guns thanks to my boys when he was a puppy. Long story. Such a shame too because he is a hunter through and through.

My best hunting dog was a Brittany. She was pointing and retrieving at 12 weeks.

I had a Vizsla that was absolutely bonkers but was a decent hunter.

Next pup will be an English Setter
