  1. This guy came through this am, He was limping bad and i decided if im gonna do the right thing i should take this guy, He has a big body and i cant find a reason for the limp, He was quartering too me and only went 20-25 yards the last place i seen him was where he laid, 20 yard shot, he went 25 yds and the drag to the edge of the field from where he fell was 60yds, He stinks real good too they are starting to begin rutting, His tarsals are getting black, and all you can smell is buck,

  2. when I got out of the stand yesterday I decided to do a little speed scouting found they abandoned the active scrapes on the oak and found 3 fresh ones about 75 yards away from my stand went a little deeper in on the boarder of neighboring property and found this beauty dead head main frame 8 with double drop tines, seems to be a coyote kill cuz the teeth are not worn out like I'd expect from a deer that would have died of old age Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. I have allowed recovery several times, but I have a lot more respect for the person that asks before the season, after 25 years all my neighbors are known and all get along. Like grow said it's not hard to contact them before it happens is better and a courdesy call before doesn't hurt, my neighbor all ways allowed retrieval but 1 time he didn't ,his cousins just entered the woods and he didn't want us going thru woods because we didn't know where they were and they didn't know we were walking/ tracking thru, no radio communication,or cell. He asked where it entered and he said if he found it he'd let us know. The deer Continued across his property and he and we felt it was just a broken leg. They may not be denying you because they are asshole but for a safety concern

  6. 10/17/15 I get to the stand in the dark with only one low snort as I came in, great not too bad I think! Nice and quiet. I figure let me get the GoPro out because morning is usually good action. As I open the zipper to my day pack I notice the lights are on so I try to turn it off and it starts beeping and flashing and ARG!!! R U kidding me! This goes on for about a minute before I finally get the dam battery out. Then I hear the tell tail noise of a big deer walking AWAY! Figured I blew the area so I smoke a but only to notice a doe directly below me, she heard me put it out but never looked up. That was my only morning action. 3pm and I'm off stand for a stretch and notice a small buck 65 yards out. I get back in stand and 20 min later a small doe dives into some brush 10 yards out and froze. I figure she was trying to escape the young bucks harassment. Saw another 3 doe at about 120 yards. Doe in the bushes did not leave until I did. 7 deer total 1 4pt 10/24/15 2nd day hunting and it was for half a day. Set up and in stand by 2:30. Had some good action seeing 10 deer total with one 4pt pushing doe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slrgU4-4s5k&feature=em-upload_owner After some more calling I was able to stop what I thought was the largest doe and take her at 22 yards. My first with a bow and I was able to get it on video. I pulled up slightly so the shot was high. Rage did the trick as the arrow broke off and spun around, no pass through. I don't think my death grip on the bow helped my form, lol. She went 40 yards, blood trail was spotty a couple of times. Gave her until dark to wait but you can hear her pile up in the video. 10 deer total 1 4pt and my first bow kill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxfsMDedRok&feature=em-upload_owner

  11. The turning point was Robey getting called for pass interference . It appeared he was going for the ball and didn't touch the receiver but I don't think the play was reviewable . Losing to a 1 abd 5 team sucks !

  13. Buddy went, out this AM, monster 10 bedded in golden rod 30 yards from where he walked through it, he ( the buck) had a doe with him. After a couple hours of watching them my buddy grunted to see what would happen , well two more bucks popped up and came into him. After which the big one came in but not in range.

  18. I'll start from the beginning, today my friend is in his climber in the wood 40 yards off the atv trail that runs behind our place, not our land but have permission to be there. 4 atvs come screaming by headed right for our place, we know where they are headed because there is a tree down across the trail been there for months and the only way around is through our 30 acre lawn. He texts and my fiancé intersepts them mid law on the way to her blind. She explains that they are on private property and can't be here especially because we have a 400 yard active shooting range. They tell her they have permission from the land owner a obvious lie as we have had the place 15 years. Fast forward 2 hours I decide to sneak to our new blind at the top of the lawn that over looks a over grown field edge. There are atv tracks leading up to where it was.... No where to be found... I do a little searching and find it 20 yards into the field through a trampled path..... Guess they didn't like that we told them to stay off the property.... I am now going to place home made spike strips across the enterance to our lawn!

  21. Well after getting my doe back from my processor, I decided to make all the ground into Jerky. I'm going to zip-lock 1/2 lbs. baggies and bring them to camp for my all day sits. First time I've used the Teriyaki blend. I think I prefer the Original and Hickory but still good. I used the Jerky blaster which you can see on the far right.

  29. My buddy and his wife were in the drive thru at Duncan Donuts the other morning and noticed two women in the car behind them pointing and laughing at their truck. When they got home they realized Al forgot to wash it out after hauling a deer home.

  30. No du k hunting for me this year. The dog has reached a point that although her heart is 120% into it her body is absolutely whipped after a day of hunting. I'm afraid she could get in trouble if she overdoes it. First missed year in 12 with her......times are changing. I did have great day bowhunting though!!

  31. Most my spots are the same deer go by different directions all the time. An old guy once told me deer move with the wind to there nose. I asked then shouldn't all the deer be in California by now!?

  33. Depends on bone in or boneless, how well trimmed the meat is,how much fat or pork or beef is added to ground. For me on average an adult 1 .5 year old deer boneless meat is about 60 lbs. Dressed weight of around 125 lbs give or take few lbs. Don't care about live weight personally and we weigh or deer so

  34. If I had land and people actully came and asked, I would go help them track. Shit all my friend text me when they hit one and I go track because I find it fun. Trustworthy honest hunters doing the right thing is how I look about it.

  41. Got the climber out today. Not yet as fast as I want it to be but I liked it. No back pain to speak of because I can keep shifting position and it has the back rest. Also the bar on the front is extremely compelling.i know it could in theory get in the way of a bow shot but I felt very stable and it was something to help grab onto while moving around, rest the bow on, etc.

  45. I have three. Ground blinds I made. One to a bedding area, one on the edge of a small swamp near that bedding area, and one that over looks a small pond, but still near the bedding area. I walked through there once in late August to make sure the blinds were still OK after the winter. Lots tracks. The fall turkey hunting I did on that land was limited to the eastern portions. I stayed a good 200 yards away from those three blinds. Not even sure I will hunt them tomorrow morning. Still only doe and fawns seen on a regular basis. Two good bucks ( seen twice ), but not around in shooting hours. Depending on wind I will most likely either sit behind a big log over looking a two ridge funnel with a creek at the bottom or another funnel that leads to a well used trail going into some nasty brush.

  49. outdoorstom, I have the same problem with Schatzie, the chipmunks really distract her. While we were grouse hunting I took one (they are "unprotected" and may be taken at any time) and sent her in to retrieve it. Had to send her in several times before she would bring it back. Once dead, she lost interest in it. Hope to do several times until she lessen her enthusiasm for chipmunks. But the breed does have some terrier in it so I don't think we can fully "train" chipmunk chasing out of them. Conrats! by the way. W\e haven't had any calls yet and she is very, very green. Tried a blood trail with old, defrosted venison blood. Doesn't work as well for her as fresh. Keep on trackin' Luna!!!
