  2. You all know I was able to buy the 10 acre parcel next to my camp. So know I border another camp consisting of 66 acres. I have never met the owner and in fact they didn't show up for the last two seasons. You can go online and pretty much find out anything about your neighbor in the tax map section for your county. I did this and got his address and sent along a friendly letter introducing myself. That was a week ago and I received a phone call from him today. He really appreciated the letter and was looking forward to meeting me in a couple of weeks. We were on the phone for 15-20 minutes and I felt like I knew the guy. Always like to extend my hand first and see what happens……it will pay off in the long run.

  6. I have a pair of red foxes that come and eat the left over bird seed that falls from the feeder. I hear them barking at all hours of the day and night. The other day our cat and one of them were fighting on our rock wall. They both took off in opposite directions. I guess it was a draw.

  11. Getting low on a couple of my favorite soft baits. My wife just asked if I would like to go to the Bass Pro Shops in Utica. Well heck yeah says I!! Leaving in just a bit. She does not hunt or fish but is my biggest supporter of all my outdoor adventures. I'm a lucky man! Since we'll be out that way, I'll stop at Turning Stone to let her play the Willie Wonka machine for a bit! A win-win day for us both!

  12. Like the video. I would end it a little different like Paula said. Showing some of the amazing things you find at the end and how you pull yourself out of a bad day by going back to nature is a great thing, show more of it and have a positive message at the end will always help inspire your audience. Your Father and Grandfather where very wise and smart men versed in nature, glad to see them pass along there love for the outdoors! Showing some of what they taught you and how you enjoy the woods is a awesome thing, keep up the good work! Love your videos!

  17. Well I swapped cars at the Buffalo airport and went to Cabela's , only to remember I left my uniform in the trunk of the car I dropped off! I got plenty, but this one had a Microtec switchblade and a Strider fixed blade and a flashlight I use a lot in the pants . Store was nice ( I'm not a shopper by and standard ). Spent about half and hour , bought 600 rounds of 9mm. They had a nice price on Sig Sauer hollow points. Oh a decent knife counter , Benchmade, Spydreco and some Knives of Alaska , KOA are very nice hunting blades if anyone is in the market . It was a quick trip, I just got off nights and worked 38 hours in a row. 2 fires and a ton of other calls so I was a bit tired. One of the fires was a grow operation 150 pot plants up,in smoke..... Best smoke I took in , in sometime !!!!

  18. I have done a lot of management for grouse the past 10 years and this year the added benifits seem to be an abundance of woodcock! The grouse numbers are up this year as are sighting while putting in food plots and some timber management. I have never seen resident woodcock here in 20 plus years I have owned the land. A few in fall for a day or two as they migrated south ,but I have 4 that I see almost every day I am out ( and they are different birds for sure)they don't chase me on the tractor like the grouse, but scamper and flit ahead for about a hundred yards then stand to the side as I drive by.. I don't really knkw much about them other than they eat worms.. but there must be a reason they decided to stay this year. Perhaps the forest floor thay was sold pine has broken down enough for worms to thrive.. I've looked for habitat info and foods but have not found to much ,but I welcome these funny birds!

  27. You might be putting out informative studies, but the conclusions that you are drawing from them are what I question. Again, if shooting deer with lead bullets is such a health risk, why hasn't anyone conducted a comprehensive and comparative study demonstrating the difference in lead blood levels between two sample populations: those who do eat lead-shot venison; and those who don't? The only study that even comes close to covering that topic was the 2008 ND study, which showed that people eating lead-shot venison still had lower lead levels than the US population as a whole. I'm agnostic on this topic as a whole; if scientific review demonstrates that there is a measurable health risk from eating lead-shot game, I'll stop using lead. But I do question the methodology and tone assumed by some here. If the science is settled on this matter, please show me the studies which settle it. I'm not interested in listening to someone preach from their pulpit. Edit: Also, I'd be interested in seeing someone chime in on the performance characteristics of lead and copper bullets. As I understand it, there are some inherent pro's/con's associated with each type.

  28. I stopped at Cabellas in Mitchell SD, ( I though it was in Sioux Falls Sd) on my way to Sturgis in 2005. It was the biggest hunting & fishing store I had ever seen! The Cheektavegas store is nothing compared to the others. The only good thing is if you need something right now they probably have it.

  29. I may sound like an ass but really I don't care for most contests. Too much emphasis on size and or score.. brings out the worse in people and what they do to win.. I like the youth contest as size doesn't matter it's the story and enthusiasm the kid puts into the story.. I really wouldn't have a problem if they banned them, but that is my own opinion I'm sure there are competitive people out there that just live for them.. to each his own.

  30. A Glastron deff is a lower end Boat....Chaparral is a nice boat company. Compare hours on the motors....and age of boat and motor. Also ask the current owner for a test ride....they shouldnt refuse or they are hiding something...also ask them to be present for a cold start....don't let them have the boat in the running...just a few tips I can pass along. 31. Never owned either one but both have been around for a heck of a long time. A good friend had a 21' Chaparral that was a great boat. It even sunk in about 12' of water in Lake Erie, they had it running before the summer was done. Kids................ I'll bet Larry_302 can add to this query.

I thought it was rather post worthy to open a few minds to new possibilities of working together around here. http://www.visiomundi.net/openjournals/index.php/wildliferesearch/article/view/8/html_8

  41. You didn't mention the waterfowl lead ban, but someone else here did. Maybe some hunters don't know about lead ammo issues, but most non-hunters know even less. Posting what you did on YouTube will be used as more fodder for the anti-gun, as well as anti-hunting crowd. You're helping their cause. You are not advocating any regulation, but you are priming the pump for it, and I suspect you know that. You want the information out there in the general public so people will get involved and do your regulatory demands for you. I'm not angry at all. Just looking to expose the end game you are obviously looking to accomplish. Have you given any consideration to what a lead ammo ban, on the national level, might do to all ammo production, producers, costs, employees of ammo makers, military defense supplies, gun control, anti-hunting gains or anything outside of the ammo affecting raptors? I'm concerned about the unintended consequences of someone's single minded zeal. How about just posting your info where hunters will see it and keeping it out of the realm of people who hate all firearms and hunting? How about pushing hunters using lead ammo to bury the gut pile? Better yet, only shoot deer in the neck or head if using lead ammo? I have a real aversion to anything, anyone wants to add to the "Ban" wagon in this country. So far, every ban I've seen has created as many issues as it has solved. It just puts the burden of the issues on someone else. Sorry if this sounds angry. It's grave concern you're reading, not vitriol.
