Second sit of the season Friday night. With cold front I went to a spot I scouted in August. Left my trail cam and wasn't going back till I hunted it. I had 3 does come in with small buck chasing/harassing them. They worked off and 30 mins later I saw a large body moving down the hill my direction. Took him what seemed like an hour to make his way to 25 yards. He put on a show. Making multiple rubs and scrapes. He presented a 25 yard quartering away shot and the rest was history. Only trail cam pic of him when I checked camera was him at 25 yards right before the shot. Also got me looking at arrow after shot. What a hunt I'm super pumped. Will be moving my vacation time for the first week of gun!!!!

All we saw was bucks! 6 of them. We dumped a coyote tho.

Today my amazing wife and I welcomed our second little girl into this world. I just wanted to show off this beautiful little chunker. Everyone is happy, healthy, and we’re looking forward to taking her home to meet her big sister tomorrow. I will say I read a lot of the “Live From the Woods” posts today to help distract from the anxiety:)

Well THIS changes things…. first drop tine I have ever had on camera.

First sit yesterday on my new 150 acres i bought up in 6k. Saw a bunch of doe. Couple small bucks. Got the plots in late but they were eating heavy in them. Purple top turnips..winter peas and over seeded with wheat morning and evening sit from different box blinds

Long story short. Sat here most of the day. Passed on this guy. Hope I don't regret it? Back in that area again in the morning. I saw something that got me excited.

Pulled cam and confirmed the buck I saw this AM, 11 pt. Moved stand, never trust Onyx. Property line was 30 yards off as we verified. Feeling like dog shit. Partner and I heading home. No PM hunt. Wife sick too but negative Covid test.

Then this fella popped up.

A buck was chasing three does about 100 yards away just before sunset. When it was clear that they weren’t coming my way I sat back down and did two short grunts. That buck closed the gap to 15 yards before I could stand back up. Turned out to be a much nicer buck than I thought, tried to stand for a shot and he bolted. Way too close for movements like that. The buck had a strange rack, beautiful five points on one side and a vertical club on the other. Sometimes grunts work, I guess. I was certainly not expecting that reaction.

I see guys on Facebook with pictures showing Them drinking beer while hunting.Now I’m no uptight individual,But for one that’s pretty distasteful.When I’m in the stand I take it serious, drinking and Hunting at the same time never made much sense to me.

Just had a good encounter with what I would say is a buck people go to Ohio for. Darn thing stuck tight to a marsh/pond and followed the curve just out of range at 50 at his closest. No chance for a shot. That got the ol ticker pumping. I got in at legal shooting time, not my favorite but the weather covered the sounds and I’m about as far into a big block of timber as I have been since I was a teen. Hopefully something more comes by or he comes back (prefer him).

I will never forget the first deer taken off of my hunting camp ever.. it was 2 days after we closed. Am hunt out of a climber. Long track, my wife who has amazing eyes joined in and is probably the only reason we found her. As soon as we found her my wife got a call that her mother was being transferred to hospice and that she didn’t have long to live maybe a day or two…. Cancer. We sped that deer to a butcher and raced home. My mother in law lost consciousness about 2 hours after we showed up and passed early the next morning. My wife jokes to this day that her mom gave me that deer so I wouldn’t be itiching to hunt and could be a good husband for a few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just passed a young 7, came right to the black widow doe in heat.

I hit a high arc to hit the rope last week. Scraping action is much higher last 2-3 days.

Took the kids out on the 4 wheeler on the logging trails. Found this scrape and rub right next to each other . Used my son for size reference.

I'm in at point stand. This is where I have actual buck pics. 5 pointer. Also saw first buck sign on way in with 2 rubs about 80 yards from this stand.

I'm vaccinated via Moderna x2 and am positive now also. I just got off the phone with Erie County and I'm not any smarter for the time spent.

Hope you get better soon. This pandemic sucks. I just got my flu shot and I am scheduled for my booster on the 29th. Losing the sense of taste wouldn't be too bad the way my wife cooks. Hang in there !

Been hunting this property for 30 yrs. Never seen a bear or bear shit, or anything remotely indicating a bear. Hunted Maine for bear many yrs and know bear sign. This is the first confirmed sighting of a bear in this area in 30 yrs with dozens of cams throughout the yrs on 900+ acres.

It was 30 degrees when I walked up the ridge to the vicinity of Tuesday’s gut pile (thats a boulder in the picture, not it) by moonlight. My seat was strapped to this tree 1/2 hour before sunrise. This is the first hard frost of the year, up here in wmu 6c. I have (4) in the tube, (1) in the chamber, my safety off, and my trigger half cocked, as I sit here waiting on a bear.

Having coffee and a bite to eat. Can't wait to get back out there!!! There's gold in them thar hills! Best of luck to all heading out today!

Things are heating up around here.

What a dumb ass!! Been sitting in the stand geared up and ready for action for the past ~45 min! Something didn’t look right, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it… Then it dawned on me! My bow wasn’t on the hanger!! It was still dangling on the rope 15’ below me! F!!! That would have made a memorable hunt if a target buck stepped out!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
