  1. A few weeks ago I was discussing with my Dad(main hunting partner) how I have been reading alot about the accuracy of the Savage 220 20ga. And I was most likey going to make a move on one after spring turkey. Fast forward to last week we were shooting 3d at S&S in Springville and after ward I had the clerk price a 220 out for me. My dad became a little more interested and jokingly said I gotta run it by the boss(my mom) but I will most likely grab one too. We have some wide open spaces and hunt a shoutgun only area so the distance and accuracy this gun claims really peaked his interest. Well low and behold it was my birthday last week and this beauty showed up! I was more than shocked, and this gun will definitely have a little extra sentimental value as I carry adield this fall. Picked up the bases and rings today along with a few different types of ammo. Hopefully the weather breaks soon so we can throw a few down range. Oh and by the way....the boss approved the purchase of two....so he has a matching one as well! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  12. Bull $hit on that one. No way that is true. I've seen too many vertical bow threads on here.

  13. And when it does get fully included you will still have that same option to hunt with a bow until your arms fall off.

  14. I've seen 30 plus inthe field just south of me. But that neighbor insisted there were no deer and he had to hunt elsewhere.. lol. Every year is different as food sources and cover can change.. the field next to him was all brush and was a good bedding area for years.. the land was leased and it was cleared and put into winter wheat..the deer move and patterns changed is all. I love hearing I've hunted the same stand for 30 years!! The deer just aren't There! I then ask well what have you done to your woods)..the woods have matured and the brush draw you hunted is now mature forest.. ..

  15. When I was playing around with tuning compounds quite a bit several years ago, I tested this theory. For several bows I had both 60-70lb limbs and 50-60lb limbs. I chronoed the 60-70 set at 60lbs and then the 50-60lb limbs set at 60 - everything else the same. There was almost no difference and a I recall at least one bow shot faster with heavier limbs turned down. My conclusion was that this myth was started by the limb makers to encourage more limb purchases. Lol.

  17. I'll start this off by saying I know absolutely nothing about reloading. But I will start this thread for others to follow along with my progress and results. In the hope it will help someone else get started too. There is already a wealth of good information right here on this site. I will be taking advantage of that! And also asking advice from some members here, who have years of experience to pull from. I picked up the reloading kit from Billdogge tonight. Thanks again Bill! So the first thing I need to do, is get started here.....

  20. I like both xbows and fannypacks ! But my fanny pack holds a Glock . I had no use for a xbow, till my 29th year of bow hunting and all the sudden I could not draw my compound anymore , spent about a grand on one, which was more then I spent on compounds in those 29 years.

  30. That goes with my last sentence. Also not everyone sees deer as easily as others. I know a few properties where hunters say no deer are around and another hunter goes and pulls out a nice 8 pt and is never invited back, lol.

  31. Had to run a few errands this morning, so stopped in to local beverage shop to look around. Saw this in cans and decided to see if it tastes the same as the little glass jugs I usually buy it in. Just really enjoy this and end up getting some when they have it. 32. You're looking at a 5% differentiation between the 2 years of overall deer take not that big of deal when talking overall numbers, my guess weather played a big role. With a 25% increase in crossbow harvests it will only be going higher. They had the same number increase in PA when they did full inclusion. The number of hunters that picked up a crossbow to hunt during archery season was huge when they used to compare the bow take to the crossbow take and NY will be the same. Number of hunters increased, along with number of archery harvests. It isn't some big secret crossbows in bow season will bring out more people, more people more pressure less deer seen. More pissed off hunters, more trespassers all seasons long, more stolen equipment. Can't wait to have more headaches and screwed up hunts. It's great to see so many wanting full inclusion. Can't wait for the degenerates to come out of the woodwork. I don't think all crossbow or gun hunters are degenerates but in our area it is a non stop battle all year long but even worse during big game hunting seasons. Bow season is the one season I don't have to police my property except the last 2 weeks of bow it is bad then gun is horrible. FWIW all the trespassers I have kicked off in the last 2 weeks of bow season have been crossbow hunters. Last year we had 5 on game cam and kicked 2 off, both said they shot a deer and were tracking it with no blood.

  33. My Dad has hunts the same stand he has used for 30 years. He is 400 feet from my south property line. We used to hunt that property too. However, a few years back, the owner gave a family from Cobleskill permission to hunt it. We used to put 1 or 2 guys in there. Now, there are 7 people hunting 50 acres of forest and cover on opening weekend of the regular season. Deer traffic patterns have dramatically changed. A great stand that resulted in many deer killed is now dead on opening day. The deer are around but all traffic from the south is cut off by a high density of hunters, and lots shooting, often multiple shots. We don't go in there until after they clear out after the opener.

  34. As a member of Deer Search and United Bloodtrackers, I can honestly say that those numbers seem way off base. Over many years, consistently, we've seen that bowhunters with vertical bows, make up the majority of sorties in a given season. Just sayin.....not to argue. But based on my own experience.

  35. Another quick project that we needed, antler coat rack. Figured I would use some of my smaller racks from my father, FIL and myself from previous years. My FIL was just going to throw them out when he was moving so I grabbed them to make different projects.

  37. im probably the only guy in NY that likes everything the way it is. I love the long bow season, like the 2 weeks of crossbow during the rut, then a liberal gun season and a late muzzle just in case I had a tough year. (I hunt all southern these days) . I hope they just leave it alone. If they do crossbow for the whole bow season there is no way i dont use it, but i also like using my bow. But i would think the deer take increasing during crossbow would have to be an increase in hunters cause if a bowhunter wants to take a doe they would anyway regardless of what they are using - therefore the numbers wouldnt have such a jump. Crossbow must be bringing in additional hunters or additional hunting hours. I know of a couple of older guys that cant really operate the bow as well anymore and have gotten crossbows and just hunt those two weeks before gun. And both of them took deer with it last fall.

  38. Idk about you but anytime a smokin deal comes up on something I want, I either don’t have the extra cash or I have the cash but a butt load of bills that I’m supposed to pay with said cash. Then when I do have some extra money the good deals are no where to be found. I just have terrible luck which always leads to me paying full price for everything🤦🏼‍♂️

  47. One of those 11,758 is mine! If it wasn't for the abbreviated x-bow season, I would have killed a big fat ZERO deer last year! The only part that scares me is seeing the season after season fly by without full inclusion opportunities. Some of us aren't getting any younger and got nothing left to prove any more with vertical archery equipment....... Been there, done that.., time to move on.

  48. Started wiring up my lights Making my own relay harnesses, solder, and shrink tube all connections. The lights will operate like factory. Sharing key hot power from the factory accesory wire, spliced in after the factory accesory fuse, this way its fuse protected. Running 2 relays now, will use one for the 11" bat, and one for the 4 hyperspot pods. Having a good time tinkering in the basement with this.

  49. Got out for a hike today and flushed 6 woodcock and two grouse. I must have been close to this birds nest because it kept coming back to me trying to lure me away after I almost stepped on it. There was another one a few feet away from this one so maybe I just interrupted these two "bumpin' uglies" ,lol Anyhow, these things have always been a challenge for me to photograph so I was happy to come away with a few shots! They've gotta have one of THE most effective camouflage patterns in the woods no doubt. Don't take your eye off these suckers once you spot one on the ground!
