  1. Some very nice prospects out in the field behind the house tonight. 6-8 bucks stroll through every night. I turn off the tv and grab the spotting scope. That big ten point has me drooling. The 8 point biting his own ass is no slouch however. These pics are taken on my phone looking through the scope. Not easy to focus but you get the point. Ill update throughout the summer.

  2. Unfortunately i have little to ZERO time in October to hunt due to apple harvest. I crossbow hunted for the first time last year and managed to kill this guy on my second day out. I didnt find him until a few days later. The snow melted and i lost my blood trail. Im now hooked. I borrowed my brother in laws Mission crossbow. Now i need to buy one!

  7. I don't give a shit...But with a hairdo like that, John Denver HAD to be a little light in the loafers.... As far as veggies go, I have eaten about a dozen cukes, half a dozen Zukes ( harvested small as Otto says...Never argue with a Sicilian about zucchinni, and I dug my garlic today, about 80 bulbs which were overall disappointing..A few dinks, a few jumbos, but mostly on the small side of medium....... My pole beans are blossoming, but no beans yet....

  9. Today’s harvest. I cut the zucchini per@Otto advice. The grape tomatoes were amazingly sweet. I expect the rest will be even better. These few stranglers were ahead of the rest. Total YTD harvests: 6 zucchini 5 cukes 2 grape tomatoes 1 jetstar tomato 6-8 cups of basil Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  10. Its great my wife and I shut the idiot box (tv) off, open the window and take turns looking at the wildlife. Some people just need to stop and smell the roses so to speak. Lots of beauty to take in, in a not so beautiful time...

  22. I think GPS has been ok for a few years now. But yes they are now legal to use. Takes some of the game away but honestly how many of us can take off 2-3 yards accurately on a club anyways. I always use to judge yardage in ten then 5 yard incriminates. Now I just look at the gps real quick instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  30. The stuff that was thigh high on July 3rd is on my best drained ground, right next the a creek. I have a smaller plot back on my poorest drained ground that was planted a couple weeks later and was just a foot high then. It was too low to cultivate and I only went over it once with gly. I went over the tall front plot twice with gly and cultivated so it is pretty much weed free. Corn is generally pretty drought tolerant and usually has roots that go as deep as the stalks are tall. That is why the earlier plantings, that get down some deeper roots early, usually do better on the dry years. It was a little too cold this spring for early plantings however. It will be interesting to see which of my plots does better. I am really looking forward to trapping some "damaging" coons around that corn. I planted small patches of sweetcorn next to each field corn plot to help draw them out early. That by my front (taller/earlier) plot is 80 day sweetcorn (bodacious), while that farther back (shorter/later) is 1/2 80 day and 1/2 90 day (silver queen). If the coons don't get all that, and we don't get and early frost, we should be getting some decent sweetcorn into October.

  42. Oh ok, thanks for the tip. I've had them, but don't love them. we eat enough veggies each week that we can eat real pasta once a week lol. I have knives, pistol, and bow at my house. I don't store long-guns here except during hunting season since i don't have a large safe. I actually have a custom engraved bluewood Buck knife i got from my boss a few years ago i'll never use that i can use for the zucchini. OR my electric mister twister filet knife. Nah. Never carried or my pistol actually. I like minimal things in my pockets. I don't even like carrying car keys, i usually hand them off to the wife. No manis or pedis for me. Very common for men around here to get them. But i have never done it. I never got a massage either.

  43. Where were the the police? Where they called? Where they ordered to stand down? Where any one arrested? Where was Governor Andrew Cuomo with his social distancing requirements enforced? The church is private property and is "supposed" to be protected under the law even from the violent elements of Black Lives Matter (BLM) or do they get a free pass? Yes, violent elements of BLM. The main stream media calls their protests "mostly" peaceful! Is it peaceful to block the free movement of really peaceful people on roadways, shopping malls and now churches? Is it "mostly" peaceful to chant "WHAT DO WE WANT, DEAD COPS!' or " PIGS IN A BLANKET!"? Apparently the definition of the word "peaceful" has a new definition. Why are not these protesters using their time to patrol their neighborhoods to prevent crime by being the eyes and ears for the police? Why are not these protesters using their time to cleanup and fix up their neighborhoods? Why are not these protestors assisting the disabled and elderly? Why are not these protestors operating programs for children to improve their lives? So you have to wonder whose lives really matters to them.

  47. I have no idea if that works after freezing. I do know it is a viable option as soon as it's sealed. Not sure what happens tot he enzymes and such in the meat. I imagine it could work because the meat will actually rot. (which, let's all be honest, aging is the initial stage of rotting)
