Pulled a dozen cards yesterday. I only went through about half of them, but he's the star of the show so far. Got quite a few pics of him on multiple cams over a month's time. Didn't see him on the last pull, but he's definitely hanging around. For now anyways.21 points

I’m not sure if this is one or two bucks. Date is right but time is wrong. All bucks in my area are still in full velvet. Nice to see a big rack!16 points

Rifle got here a little while ago. Took everything out and checked things over, breech plug, barrel, scope, and the supplies that came with it. Put the front rifle sight on and mounted the scope. Thank you to @rachunter, @silent death, and @sbuff for helping me out with some primers, extra bullets and a few spare speed loaders. It was greatly appreciated. I'll be getting it sighted in in a couple weeks and looking forward to it.6 points

I’m against full inclusion but the second someone uses the term crossgun I quit reading, it makes you sound like a complete idiot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk6 points

And not in a good way. Lol. Lost my one property and first time ever, the farmer planted no crops on either side of my place. WTH. I always have beans and corn. Well they just planted winter wheat on one side which could help late season. So it’s been doe central with only little guys on camera. I might just sit it out until rut which is fine since I have not been motivated. But good news, God is watching over the property. See photo. Probably kill my biggest ever right there under His spotlight when I least expect it. Lol5 points

I just posted a couple hours ago asking about the chevy avalanche. Well me and my FIL(who is a mechanic) went and looked it over. Its a southern PA truck which drew me to it. Only bad spot of rust is a rocker panel which they had a new one. Everything works well on it, no dents, tailgate works, tonneau cover is great shape also had the carfax for it which I went through for 15 mins. Put it through the works test driving it and motor and transmission didn't skip a best. So once we got done with driving and talking I decided to buy it. It's older but in great shape and will do what I need without breaking the bank. After taxes, tags, warranty and purchase I'm only out 8200 which gives me a very tiny monthly payment. Time to get some blood in the bed.4 points

Deer seem attracted to it ----- can see it hanging in the tree. Might be it works , but also could just be the licking branch alone but this gets a lot of action when we have one hanging there3 points

The only scents that really worked for me, was applying common "sense" and paying strict attention to wind direction. Not saying that deer scents don't work. Many claim they do! Just that I never had them work for me. And I tried alot.3 points

Doe draw bucks or so I’ve been told…. I can totally understand your lack of motivation Brian. Hopefully as the leaves and temperatures start to fall your interest will peak. I’d put big money on Moog all day every day to be a pot winner, stay tuned!!!2 points

I'm sure "ralph" has never once considered wind direction while hunting birds with scatter shot and sends every deer in the woods running for easier to hunt private land. LOL2 points

I got my Bill-decoder out after read #3. Dude is basically saying armies of small game and bird hunters like him would suddenly enter the woods if it was full inclusion, knowing full well he could legally hunt with one now from 11/6 till 1/1 and doesn't.2 points

ive tried the cover sprays and as others not much faith in them. i will use them on my boots though. I do like my ozone bag. I treat my clothes in it before each hunt and it takes 5 minutes. Im a big fan of that. Lure sprays i generally will put out a couple of drippers and i seem to get a lot of pics of them checking them out. Do i know for sure it brings them in... nah. But if they smell that when they come in maybe it takes away them noticing the fat guy in the tree for a minute.2 points

Upon closer inspection... I think this is all the same deer. 5 on the left, 4 on the right. A good example of how angles can made size look different, and hide points.2 points

We certainly have a mutual respect Belo. And we can agree to disagree on crossbow issues. That's what being here is all about. But........ marketing for "ANYTHING" is just hype to sell something. Your Next Rifle, and Rifle Like Accuracy, are just marketing words, meant simply to sell a product. Now I don't actually know if the marketing word 'Rifle', has been used to sell a compound bow? But since today's compounds are so much more advanced, than the first one I bought in the early 80s, it very well could be used to sell compounds? But surely, the fastest compound, or crossbow, will not actually shoot like a rifle. I still, and always will consider myself a bowhunter. That has been my love, and passion for many years. I will admit that a bow killed deer is the most rewarding to ME. I have killed a couple with the "crossbow" too, and yes it was fun and exciting at 20 yards. The same distance as I would shoot one with my bow. But my bow will always be #1. I may carry a crossbow a couple times a season? Nice to have a choice. One day in the not so distant future, a crossbow will be all I will be able to carry, during whatever part of the season NYS DEC says it's legal to do so. My standing point in the discussion of bows and crossbow's, is that I have used and killed deer with BOTH. Not many "CROSSGUNNERS" can say that. And my crossbow does not come close to any firearm I have. I still say, like them or not, CROSSBOW'S, will be more a part of the future hunting in NYS. And calling them CROSSGUNS just sounds so silly to me, and makes those that use that reference sound silly too. Call it what you like. It still is what it is, a CROSSBOW. The definition, only being decided by whatever side of the issue you are on.2 points

I have zero faith in the sprays. Ive sprayed all kinds of natural and organic smells and they do nothing to "eliminate" or "cover" them. And deer can smell @ a billion different things at once so cover sprays are also ineffective in this Members opinion I award @Grampy all the stars and likes2 points

Where is the word CROSSGUN? I don't see it? Yes, I see "Rifle like accuracy" but that could also be used to market a new compound bow, or even a slingshot or BB gun for that matter.2 points

So, a serious question that perhaps some of those with legal expertise can answer. Apparently the DEC needs the legislature to pass a law in order for full inclusion of crossbows in archery season to occur. At least, for several years there has been the announcement that the legislature failed to pass the law or even vote on it. On the other hand, the DEC was recently able to make significant changes to the big game hunting regulations without involvement of the legislature, at least as far as I know. So what is the difference? Exactly what does the DEC have the authority to control? I have the impression from things I have read that the DEC is in favor of full inclusion.2 points

I took a hike with my daughter yesterday, and came to the decision that I'm going to sit out bow season this year. There are a few things that have led to this decision: 1. I haven't given myself the time to practice in the off season this year, and I don't want to try to cram a bunch of practice in before next month. 2. My wife is due with our 2nd daughter at the end of October, and I want to be there for her as much as possible in the last part of her pregnancy. I don't think I would be able to sit in a tree stand without feeling guilty that I wasn't home with her. 3. This is the big one: Walking through the woods with my 2 year old yesterday brought it home that these are my last couple of months with just her. I've spent the last 2 1/2 years watching her grow and learn, and I want to cherish these last few months of "us". I think my time this fall would be better spent in nature with her rather than by myself. It's funny, as soon as I came to the realization, I was amazed at how easy it was. I really enjoy the archery season, but there are just some things that are more important. I am very hopeful that I get at least a few days during gun season to get out of the house and hit the deer woods.2 points

I said "few". More accurately I know two guys who are HIV positive. I spent most of my career in film and TV and my wife is in the beauty business. I would guess that a good third of our friend/acquaintance group is gay.2 points

Ahhhh. Sounds like someone either A. Has to become a much better hunter or B. Get a real job and buy your own piece of property so you can call all the shots. Until then I guess you will just have to deal with other hunters in the woods hunting THIER way.2 points
-
I would really have to see what you describe as all these additional hunters lining up on federal land with crossbows to believe it. I hunt state land in NY and after Thanksgiving weekend of rifle you lucky to see a hunter. Even opening week isn't anything like that here in NY and I'm only 90 mins from Manhattan. If full inclusion will bring all these new hunters into the woods than that just might be what we need with dwindling hunter numbers. Truth is if full inclusion ever happens your vertical bowhunter ranks will drop because they are moving to xbows and you'll get a small percentage of gunner only hunters who will hunt crossbow.2 points

Agreed Crossbows don't go bang. They don't kill in the same manner as a firearm. They are archery equipment. I'm not saying that using a crossbow is "bow hunting", but to equate them firearms isn't logical.2 points
