“Quicker”? Lol that’s not real high on my list of vehicle concerns. I’m keen on reliability and resale as I get old and long in the tooth. You young bucks can have the speed…….5 points

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I'm going to say the same thing that I've said throughout this whole thing: be smart, don't be afraid. But please try not to be too cavalier. Just because you haven't experienced an impact from COVID yet doesn't mean that you're immortal. We aren't teenagers anymore, right lol? Enjoy your holidays - maybe shoot another deer. I wish the snow would stick...5 points

Will definitely post pics. We're buying a house with a massive 3000 square foot garage behind it. Definitely needs a lot of work but it's more space than I could ever ask for. No more mounting animals in my downtown apartment living room! Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk5 points

Good thing we’re all meat hunters here .Sucks for the antler only hunters .All them 150” deer taken this next week with less than adequate implements .and tagged as doe none the less .We should have a contest who can kill the deer with the largest circumference of pedicle .3 points

Pulled cards today during the "two minute warning" (can duck hunt but not deer hunt?) and finally found that crossbow bolt about 12 feet up in this oak tree. I knew it hit wood, must have richocheted off a downfall . Wouldn't trust that carbon fibre bolt again. Happy for the holiday hunt as lots of folks have off this coming week and thankful for extended hours as got both deer during that new window...thanks DEC3 points

Not having a dedicated taxidermy shop sure does make the process a lot more cumbersome. I have a big garage that all dirty work happens in but I still mount mine in the house too in what was once the master bedroom. We divided the long livingroom into an office/drying room so the family living part of the house still has it's privacy. Once I move into a new place, I will definitely be erecting a small shop solely for taxidermy. Good luck!3 points

Thanks for the President’s day invite, and I might try to stop in, with those two lower jaws that I saved for you, and check out your racks. I am pretty sure that we got detoured right past there, a couple of trips ago, when there must have been an accident on Rt 3. It didn’t take us that much longer, to get to the in-laws place, going that way. Looking at your three pictures of this year’s kills up above, they appear to show two different bucks. On the bottom two, I can clearly see the brow tines, and on the top one I can’t. I enlarged that top picture as much as I could with my phone (I think it is an I-phone 14), used my bifocals, and I still can’t see them. If that one also has them, then they must both be 8-pointers, or did I miss some more 1” or longer stickers ? I am not much of an “antlers” guy myself, as you and everyone else on this site must surely be well aware of by now. I even missed this damn 1-1/8” long brow sticker on my one and only antlered buck (so far) this year, when I called in my harvest report. I still feel a little guilty about that, because the DEC probably considers 5 or less points as 1.5 years old, 6-8 points as 2.5 years old, 9 or more points as 3.5 plus, and no points (my wife’s favorites) as 6 months old when aging male deer with their computer program. I am sorry that you are not overly thrilled with the DEC. From a “mostly” MEAT hunter’s perspective, I feel that they have been doing a stellar job lately, of managing our deer herd. Never have I felt more certain of that than this year, when my freezers would be almost empty, rather than packed to near capacity, were it not for the new changes they made. The jury is still out on the new Holliday season, but the early antlerless season, restored Adirondack ML antlerless, and half hour past sunset, have been real good for me. I believe you if you say the brows are there on that upper photo and if you have it next February, I guess I might be able to see them up close and in focus. Getting off the “missing” brow points, and back on topic, I understand that you are now tagged out. I have an extra dmp, that I could sign over to you, if you want to come out west for some Holiday hunting. You would be very welcome if you choose to. I can offer you a comfortable box blind, over looking a not yet fully consumed standing corn plot, on 34 private acres. I kicked a big (unidentified) deer out of there last Saturday afternoon. Shoot me a pm if you might be able to make it out to wmu 9F any time between December 26 and January 1. ps, I edit almost all of my posts with this damn smart phone because it always changes a bunch of words (or I fat-finger) a few. Hahahaha! It's definitely time to upgrade though! I didn't measure it myself the garage is listed at 42x75! Bigger than the house(as it should be)! I'll actually be mounting everything this winter in the basement until I put some work in to that garage Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk3 points

Picked my crossbow buck up from @518BowSlayer on the way home from hunting today. Really great guy and extremely fast turn around considering I dropped it off Thursday. He says he is just starting out but he has a house full of beautiful work. I would recommend him if your in the area.2 points

Pics for xtra points. Lol I hate the bastids too. We’ve been pretty good for a few years since my numbskull neighbor finally quit “feeding” the birds by throwing seed on the ground. Yup, fur real.2 points

I intend to go crossbow hunting on Sunday. I planned on heading down to camp to bring some things home, so I'll simply there a few hours early. I'll be back in time for the game against the Bills.2 points

My wife drives a 2019 caravan. She loves it. Bought it because the caravan has been the same for 10 years. To me that shows reliability. Working in a dealership, I always say on bad weather days Subaru, and soccer moms with caravans will show up for their appointments.2 points

Couple vs. a few does matter, to you. It's all about the inches. You say it all the time. Too bad you didn't get the inches you so desperately wanted. Maybe next year you won't settle for mature. This fool will be doing it differently this part of season. Late season hunt, is certainly not the same as early bow, crossbow, gun, ect. Any human made food plot late season is a waste of time. The bucks will be bedding, and unless bumped, won't move. This time of year it seems deer will be lower on the hills. During gun I like ridges with briars, and shelves. This time of year I like valleys out of the wind with big and small pines. More shelter, and food source. And maybe I will decide to take a doe or 2 since I have been quite successful at seeing and watching deer this year. I hunt about 600 acres of land between mine and the neighbors. Late season I hit valley's and over looked brush lots near homes I have access too. Last weekend I watched 8 deer at different locations doing this. 50 yards behind barns near manure pile, down side of pond in a brushlot, behind neighbors house in pine rows. Hopefully everyone that goes out for the holiday hunt has some success with their family and friends this holiday season. This could turn into the best week of the season for some.2 points

I think my hip, problems today can be traced to,our drives in the 90s . Sit till,9 drive till 3, then sit again . Thing Was the drives required walking miles often through plowed up muddy farm fields , pounds of mud on each boot ,and many times I’d stop to try and pull my foot free, which I’d feel in the hip, joint . Drives were way more fun then sitting in a tree , we knew where they’d run,the action was outstanding . My absolute favorite buck is a litlle 7 pt my 14 y/o daughter pushed out of ditch and I dropped on a full out run .2 points

It’s so interesting, everyday I’m at the gym with 50-60 maskless people breathing heavy ,spotting each other , the Mrs who has two risk factors was at a few stores today maskless OMG ! We’ve been in jam packed bars ,where no one wears a mask ,basically haven’t changed a thing in our lives ,zeros issues . Daughter #2 is on the phone with Mrs Nomad right now her friend she hung out with yesterday just tested positive, what should she do ? We said come home for Christmas! We don’t give a rats ass . I’ve been in close contact with three people who shortly after “ tested positive “ like hours together and nothing . I guess that J&J shot I got in the spring is working lol . Count down to Florida 3,2 ….2 points

I agree fully with G man. Greed is the problem, not limits. It's the same as hunting, some people will kill everything they can without regard to sustainability. People can't just take what they need and leave a few for the next guy. I agree with Rob too, these guys that post pictures of limits of perch EVERY single day for a week straight are not sportsman to me. There's no way they are eating 300 jack perch, they simply want the public image of being an above average fisherman. I really hate the guys that sell them, is it even legal? I would be all for a 5 walleye limit on Oneida if you could trust people's respect for the resource. Otherwise it's the same issue, guys fishing for a month straight stockpiling more walleyes than they can possibly consume simply because it's legal, while depleting the population for everyone else. I would like to see a slot limit on the walleyes if they go to a 5 fish limit at the very least, but I doubt they will... Sent from my moto g fast using Tapatalk2 points
