I wish u were closer I'd come out and take a look. I would have done it earlier so u could make the woods this evening! And a service call on a holiday is going to suck! Sounds like it's cycling on limit to me. Not sure why with out watching it. Well keep me updated if u would. I'm curious to know what caused it

Turned out my burners are rusting (10 yr old furnace). The loose rust washed into the drain reservoir clogging a drain that should be pulling a vacuum but wasn’t due to the blockage. No vacuum wasn’t making the safety switch in the inducer and shutting down the burner. Up and running right again, but long term fix is to replace the burner which he is ordering to install next week sometime. Today’s charge and burner install service charge next week is zero dollars because I bought the service plan in April this year for $14.95/month - pretty pleased with that!! The exhaust vent was the first thing he checked.

Didnt get to hunt today but glad we have a cozy house again with kids and grandkids here til Sunday.

Service guy is a deer hunter. I tipped him well and told him to bring his gun when he comes to install the new burner.

Wifey went to the tower for the afternoon sit and saw 9 does but no bucks.

Mine worked like it always does, i wish i heeded advice from last night and put latez gloves under hunting mits. My hands were super cold.

So I used 1 gallon freezer ziplocks, i could feel the difference, but after 90 mins, my feet got cold, lasted a total of like 3.5 hrs, which would be really good in some circumstances, but not this lol.

ł totally missed something with the Ziplocks...

Was out from 6:10-2:30 and ł can't feel my mustache right now.

Made my 1.5 hour drive home and enjoyed dinner with my parents and sister, won't get back to the woods until 12/1 & 12/2

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable Thanksgiving with their loved ones.

Live from the couch, while rapidly slipping into a food coma.  Sweet Jesus, it was frigid today!  0 deer seen, but I probably bumped them off while attempting to creep in over the crunchiest snow and ice of all time!  Highlight of the hunt (besides surviving the frozen tundra) was having a barred owl swoop under my tree stand.  How cool is that?!  Hoping to be thawed out just in time to sit all day tomorrow.

My GF got home last this afternoon, and we made it to her friend's for turkey and fixin's.  Just got back and laid out my gear for the morning.  I haven't hunted in 6 days, so I am ready to get back out.  Get up around 4am, load up, drive an hour+ and try to sit all day.  I have 3 days to get it done...

Good luck to everyone.  Stay warm(ish).

Well afternoon wasnt to bad saw a 4 pt.   I dont pass buck on stateland where im at dont see them to often.  But ive gotten to know a land owner that has been keeping me posted on how many people are hunting and that the deer there are still on a normal pattern and that there are quite a few decent bucks still running.   That being said he comes by in morning he might not be lucky.  So he made my deer total 2 bucks 5 does today on 3 seperate stateland and my lease.  Thats a really good day for me. Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving.

I always was told never put plastic bags in your boots it cuts the blood flow to your feet. Kind of like strangulation.

Back in the 70’s we used bread wrappers ....

Today I just use Muck boots and one pair of socks .

1 degree in the hilltops of 8T. Good luck to everyone this morning! I'm not out this morning, instead I'm running to Rochester and back to pick up our other 3 grandkids for the next couple of days. Our 11 yr old grandson will be hunting with me for our third Black Friday hunt in a row. Going to do the the Friday afternoon sit, and as much as he's up for for on Saturday.

We got a doe together the last two years in a row, but this year I've got a buck tag left. If the opportunity arises, I may just be willing to take a buck that I'd normally pass on to send him home with antlers along with a pile of steaks. He's very involved with sports so it's getting tougher to get any time in the fall with him. I'm trying to set the hook so to speak for hunting before sports, girls, and high school sweeps him away in a couple years.

Havent been out since Tuesday afternoon, so I'm ready! Good luck today!

Breaking out the new Baffin boots I bought last year, along with some cold accessories like neoprene gloves, hand muff and balaclava. Will be a challenge to dress right for this weather. It will be 16 degrees/5 real feel in the morning in 9A.

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
