All Time Favorite Lure?

Was talking with some friends about fishing lures and what was the one that had the most success. I believe I have caught more fish using the Mepps Minnow inline spinner of various sizes than any other. At one time or another I think I have caught just about every species of fish there is to catch where I have fished using a Mepps even a Bullhead and a Carp.

Fun fact : I’ve never caught a fish on a Mepps. Give me a Panther Martin any day . Here’s one in 3 days I caught 40 smallmouth, a sheephead , a steelhead and a catfish with. Today it became a sacrifice to the fish gods. Please bow your heads for a moment of silence. Also love a 3” Gulp minnow and 1/8 ounce jig head for smallmouth

Pike fishing is my favorite, and my go to lure which I seldom change from is a #5 Mepps Aglia in gold or silver, depending on the overcast.

I have by far caught the most fish on little cleo's in lower river and a close second would be a KO wobbler also in the lower river , early season is always steel down there before switching to skein .

All time... a number 4 silver Mepps Aglia with brown fur has got to be my number 1.

After that... Yo-Zuri pin minnow in silver 

And most recently...  Iv had the best luck with Berkley flicker shad in Racy shad.

That's a difficult choice.  Cause it depends on the species.  But if I have to pick one it's this.  Jr thunderstick in this chartreuse and orange. Never have seen one like it since.  Have caught walleye, bass, trout and my biggest ever 43" northern. I retired it that day.  Hardly any paint left on it anyway.  My buddy named it "the Satan lure".  I lost it twice when fish cut my line and it floated back to the top of the water to fish another day.  Lol.

The Mepps with the minnow was my favorite when I was a kid

For trout in ponds- Lake Clear Wobbler ahead of a streamer or some "garden hackle"

For trout in streams- a undressed spinner white bead, gold blade or a Mepps spinner

for bass in lakes- original Rapala minnow imitation

I love the bagley muskie lure in chartreuse also a big fan of the depth raider.

Hair jigs, tied by  yours truly....Colors may vary, but it is hard to go wrong with black or brown, unless you are fishing for salmonoids that are feeding  on shiny baitfish, in which case white or yellow may work better..

Oh man, we called an audible tonight as we were bushed; tuna sangwich for me and salad for her (with tuna on top).   OK, I'll get up........getting sleepy too!

From an old salt the "AVA 47" was the lure to catch blue fish and striped Bass back in the day. Just jig it up and down!

March browns are only on a  couple of weeks ... but it's the best time to be fishing .

Not many species of fish in NY that I haven't caught on a 3/8oz jig head with a twister tail.
For cold water walleye I like a suspending jerk bait like the HuskyJerk or X-Rap.
