  1. Emma, my 9 year old granddaughter, just competed in the math olympics from 6 private schools in Seminole County, Florida. She attends Orangewood Christian school. There were many kids involved, and the contest has been scheduled for months. Low and behold, she won (first place) in the 3rd grade section! I'm proud as a peacock for my little sweetie!

  3. Just finished this bruiser for a good buddy of mine. Based on sheds and trail cam pics, this buck was at least 7.5 year old last fall. In fact, I found his sheds from the previous year and they were 20" larger than when he was killed. It's amazing that a deer can live that long in these part...truely an amazing animal.

I've raised one of these before and was amazed at how smart they were, so I promised myself i'd get my own once I got my own house. What better day to hang with the new pup then on a snow day! 20. I can not remember where I read it but in the late 1800s early 1900s some millionaire that owned one of those so called "great camps" attempted to establish several exotic big game species including Russian-European wild boars. It turned out to be a big failure because of the weather and terrain-habitat. It was not the temperatures it was the deep snows that did the boars in as their short legs made it too hard for them to navigate and they all died of starvation basically. About the same time another rich guy turned loose a bunch on the Cumberland plateau in Tennessee and they established a breeding population that are still carrying on today in them parts.

  21. i made this in my masterbuilt smoker. Jerky [beefi prefer venison used what i had] and a salmon 180 degs @ 41/2 hrs .I know its a little high but it was 43 degs and from past experience the outside temp affects the smoker [ i gotta buy the blanket that wraps around the unit they sell] The jerky i cheated i used high mountain seasoning my daughter gave me .the salmon i made a dry cure 1/2 maple sugar ,1/2 cup brown sugar ,1 cup of salt[ going to use like a little more than 1/2 cup it was a little salty not much but tone it down a little] and i basted it with maple syrup my friend john a farmer up in durham where i hunt makes maple syrup, my wife said it looks like motor oil .i told her just taste it and she loved it. in the early part of the season the sap is very light then it gets darker as it get warmer

  25. One of the great things about loading custom ammo for your own use is the large number of component choices available. All aspects of shooting and hunting can be covered from ammo created and is put together by the handloader to obtain fine accuracy for target-varmint shooting, for plinking loads on the cheap, and for full power performance loads that provide the best terminal effects. There are powders along with bullets manufactured for all applications. It is fun and rewarding to concoct a handloading recipe that accomplishes your ammo goals. So there can be a large number of powders that can be actually used to produce ammo that works for just about every individual cartridge. That being said there is usually one or two that will stand out and give the most efficient -optimum results as to velocity and accuracy. Those are the powders that will be producing ammo that performs exactly to what the shooter is looking for out of their particular firearm. Factory ammo these days is better than ever, bullet selection and performance is much improved from what it once was and it is very accurate for the most part. That being said it is still a one size fits all proposition and that is where handloading has advantages. The tweaking of ammo for each individual firearm getting the most out of it. One inch groups may be shrunk to 3/4" or even less, velocities may also be upped somewhat along with some pretty good savings for the shooters that like a lot of trigger time. Al

  28. Man this thread is wild...I guess we all have different views on stuff. I would have taken a mouse squeaker my kids and wife a few chairs and a blind and camera and tried to coax whatever was in there out. Sure probably with a gun on my hip incase it became threatening which would then make it legal. And had some learning time watching the critters play/be curious. Again I know it's been posted but what on Earth makes killing coyote out of season any different than killing deer out of season? Coyotes are more of a trophy to me than any deer and would shoot a coyote over the biggest buck side by side 100 times out of 100 so just bc you think it's nusiance or overpopulated doesn't make it right. Just like me shooting a deer out of a field next to your camp out of season isn't right either. Wild how a few think this is ok when we are all outdoorsman. Especially when the probability of pups is pretty high. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

  29. Zero. But when I was a kid I remember a family of Fox moved in under my parents shed. We would see like 6-8 of them at a time and the mom fox always stood there angry when i played basketball. My dad closed up the holes and the fox moved farther away. My point is, why junk straight to killing animals that you haven’t even seen yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. About 5 yrs ago on the first day of youth season, a young gal and I sat in a snow storm. Couldn't see 50 yrds. Heard the birds on roost, but they shut up once they hit the ground. Was one of the few times I was glad to get into a warm truck during turkey season. Ended up getting her first tom the next day in the same spot.

  33. it's funny i've got at least 3 venison "cook books" given to me. many of the recipes are pretty lack luster. i've come across many thought and have some of my own i've been thinking about writing down for a book of my own that can be stuffed in my kitchen cabinets somewhere. i have this thing for sawing through bone. always seems messy with bone dust all over the meat. all my meat i process gets boned out.

  47. i'd invite you if i knew you wouldn't conspire against my compound bow efforts and have anything associated with them in disarray, forcing me to use my recurve. not to mention your harvest photo in front of a nice longbeard and a ShareYourHunt banner might get some attention. especially since the spinner beanie is a requirement. Besides I wouldn't feel right stealing that kind of potential PR from Culver's efforts out your way.
