Didn't get a shot on anything during gun season so took the muzzleloader out sat afternoon for a final hunt and had this guy walk past me at 4:20,just when I thought it was over. Got 3 deer this year so even with the horrible weather it turned out good.35 points

Barnes did some work today. 114# dressed. 30 yd shot. Came in with a group of 3. Sat on the ground in memory of biz to conclude my 2018 season. It is fun from the ground, but still love my stand.25 points

So... It wasn't last minute but it was last afternoon. Me and five other people did some pushing today. We saw deer on every push which I thought was pretty good. On the last one of the day before taking our evening watches I got this buck. We had a ton of fun and this really made the day. Nine pointer with a couple small kickers near the bases. 18 1/2 inch inside spread. My best buck to date.23 points

At 915 i had 3 nice size doe come in at about 50 yards the 3rd was the largest i dropped her in her tracks. The other 2 werent yearlings at all but they hung around for a hood 20 min after i dropped the doe they wouldn't leave. Even after i got out of my stand they let me walk to with in 10 yards of them before they left. I didnt want to shoot another i had to get to work.20 points

Been getting the cops called on me every time I use a gun at one of my best spots so took the bow out and sent a rage down range tonight. I was hoping to see antlers but she was at 20 yards at 435 and I couldn’t say no. One either sex tag left. Going to one of my best spots for a hang and hunt after a nice 140ish 4 year old 8 pointer I have some history with. He’s been hanging up in thick shit before last light but hoping the cold gets him moving in day light tomorrow. If not hopefully can knock another doe down. Good luck to everyone else going out tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk17 points

Was planning on calling in “sick” today for the last hunt of the season...well, i woke up sick (probably from my daughter). Careful what you wish for! I do however plan to sit in my blind for a bit as I need to check traps out back anyway. BTW, check out what’s was waiting for me after my Sunday hunt...safely released unharmed.10 points

Well finally got to see her she was laughing when I walked in because she new I had walked a hole in the floor of the waiting room. I asked her why we just couldn't have one normal surgery that went the way everyone planned. And she just giggled said she was trying to get the rest of my hair to fall out and turn my beard white. So she still has her sense of humor. Thanks again to everyone and the thoughts and prayers.8 points

Finally out and in recovery havent seen her yet. Turned into an exploritory surgery to fixing a hernia the size of a softball. Doing ok just sore cant wait to see her now. Thanks for all the prayers.7 points

My brother in law is a pretty hard deer hunter. He hunts bow, gun, and muzzleloader. He even shot one with a x-bow this year. He hunts every weekend rain or shine along with the high winds. He hasn't seen a deer in a couple of weeks worth shooting. So today he pulls into work and right next to his parking spot he see this. Gotta love it !!!6 points

Forget the 243 and grab a Savage Axis in 7-08. My 14 year old daughter has one, its pretty much the perfect rifle for her. No need for low recoil rounds, she runs Hornady 139 gr through it with zero recoil issues, and shes not a big girl.6 points

We had a fun morning, I had a group come in early and bust me. Then I made a long loop around the property on the upwind side and got one deer headed up to Sodfather but just a bit short and he couldnt get a shot. TF saw deer as well and we had a great lunch. Nice wrap on the season! Good luck to the last minute crew this afternoon!4 points

only if the 45 is elegant and soothing to load. i mean a round or two is all it takes. good for recovery from the previous sessions with the 25 where you're firing more hot rounds and waiting your equipment to cool down in between. it'll definitely wear ya out. 45 really has some ass behind it though with more knockdown power. you've got to take it seriously and respect it. oh crap i thought we were talking about gun calibers.... my bad!4 points

I use a Dremel 3000 and 4000 for all my arts and crafts with the flex shafts on both. Wood, bone, metal, glass, stone... the possibilities are endless. Just use the right burrs for the material and you'll be all set. There's some really good bit sets on Amazon that can be had at a fraction of the cost of Dremel brand bits.3 points

Last sit of the year so I’m pretty bummed. Been here about a half hour and I hear woods snapping ice breaking. Naturally I’m thinking don’t move lucky bastard it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for. The footsteps get closer like behind my stand they stop and go behind me. So I take quick peak and wouldn’t ya know it.. two cows walking down my neighbors road. Wtf. no bs it actually happened3 points

I’ve always hated the idea of telling a hunter that maybe only gets a few days to hunt that there are certain deer they aren’t allowed to shoot just because I want to kill them next year. I also hate run on sentences Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro3 points

Just checking. Been super busy so I haven't been logging in as often. Yes. I'm most definitely down. Just give me the time and the place and enough advanced notice and I'm there. By the way, Shawhu moved out to Seattle.3 points

That’s why nonhunters assume it’s a piece of cake to kill deer. “Stop over, they are always in my backyard.” That’s hunting.3 points

You guys are too funny. I just shot a huge buck. Anyone have an extra tag? Will be on the next episode of Moog's wildlife escapades - airs right after Biz and Pygmy's wild escapades (different subject matter).2 points

The article does a good job of presenting the damage hogs do to crops and other wildlife. I'm sure some of the spread is due to illegal transport by idiots who want them around, maybe not as much as suspected, but enough to explain the rapid increase in their numbers in many areas. If you notice, some of the states mentioned that are having problems with hogs now, like Wisconsin, the climate is just as harsh as it is in NY. They would survive here. IMHO, they would be the death knell to the ailing agricultural industry that is struggling to survive in NY as it is. Interestingly, NY does not allow anyone to shoot them. Shooting them causes the hogs to scatter and prevents taking them all out. Here they want to trap them, which offers a better chance of getting them all and cleaning out any area they have infested. I don't want to see any wild hog in my neck of the woods, unless it says Harley-Davidson on it.2 points

Not sure you are aware, but DEC is running a "Women who hunt & fish photo contest" Maybe some good press in there for you to support next year efforts as you have some nice pics. http://www.dec.ny.gov/press/115271.html2 points

We bought her a 2018 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara in July. Unlike her previous jeeps this one did not have heated seats, she hasn't complained or said a word about it now that it's cold, but I know how much she loved them in her other vehicles so she's getting that this year, scheduled the install at the dealer for the day after Christmas. I actually just finished making the the "card" I'm going to put in a big box for her. A bunch of other "Jeep" stuff and some small things too. This is our 36th Christmas together, we still try to keep it fun.2 points
