When are you getting in the woods for the first time this year?

Recommended Posts

Since they introduced Oct 1st as the opener I never get to be in the woods on opening day for Bow Season.  However, I always get up there for the opening weekend.  Taking off Friday and heating up Thursday night, can't wait!

Good luck all.

Sucks for me-Oct 18th.

At this point, it looks like I'm in the same boat as you.  10/18 seems like it will be my first day too.

My plans are to hold off until we get a cold front moving in so who knows maybe next week some time. Plenty of season. I plan to begin hunting hard, putting the hours in, the last week of October. I don't wanna give away my better spots or so I feel, until the bucks are looking for the first hot doe and I don't want to educate the does either if I can help it. I plan to hunt certain stands early.

Hopefully tomorrow night, if can get out of the office at a normal time for once and my back stops hurting.  Pulled something in it moving a BBQ propane tank yesterday.  Strange since I have carried two tanks at a time before.

Be out early tommorow morn!!! im so excited im allready shaky!!!

Same, I'm all sorts of twitch this afternoon, hope I can sleep tonight!  If no shut eyes by 1am I'll just get up, load up on stimulants, and sneak out REAL EARLY so I'm there 2 hours before first.  I'm annoyed at the wind shift to SW instead of NW though, can't hunt the really hot stand.

unfortunately for me since I live in NC I won't be able to hunt in NY until Opening day of rifle in Nov. but I'll be up there for over 2 weeks this year so I'm looking forward to that. I've already been out with the bow here in NC since the season opened Sept. 12th here.

I want to wish all you bow hunters up in NY  a Safe and fruitful season this year. I hope you guys get a big one ! GL

Maybe im jumpin the gun a bit quick but.....
As the 2019 deer season is coming fast and the live from the woods thread is going to light up like a christmas tree(better train this kid at work fast so i can follow up on all the deer porn)...The quickly approaching season has got new topics popping up and me getting antsy sooo......
Is there anyone with a new approach to this years season different from the past?
      Different preparations for the season,etc.
Accomplishment's/goals you are shooting for in the 2019 season?
      Shorter/longer sits etc.

      A few of mine..
1.Prep by shooting as much as possible
2.Spend as much time as i can in my "happy place"(always been my peaceful place)
3.Get my first mount done so i can hang it on the wall at the first house(bare spot!)
4.Get neccessary equipment for processing my own deer in the garage(needs a good cleanin before opening day!!)
5.See the smile on Jay's(turkeyfeathers) face with his first bow harvest!!!!
6.Be blessed and thankful to be able to spend time in the great outdoors.cherish every moment of the woods coming alive at day break(g/f doesnt understand it!!!)<<but im ok with that
This year has flew by and season will be here before we know it.This post is a bit early but im pumped and ready for some woods time!!!!
