Things You've Lost?

I don't recall if we've done this one before.   What's a fairly big ticket item you have lost in the past?  (keep it to a monetary item; no family members, fingers, toes legs etc. or anything)

A number of years ago (maybe 10) I lost my wedding ring in our house, we searched high and low and it never reappeared.  I obviously couldn't remember what I did with it but probably tossed it in the trash.  I have a habit of grabbing numerous things in each hand and 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 4 go in the trash and the other doesn't.   Usually......

The only other thing that could have possibly happened is our cat at the time, Nick might have slid it of the counter in the bathroom into the trash.  Either way, it didn't and hasn't shown up.

My wife felt bad and so did I of course so a year or so later we bought a new one for me.  That would have been new bow money............. :(

What did you loose????

Just lost the title to my wife's new vehicle....dam thing just came in the mail and I swear I put it in a safe place before moving it with all the important vehicle documents in our files.

I am guessing since I was organizing other papers to be shredded, that it accidentally got mixed in there and met it's fate a few days later in the shredder!

Not really lost..just misplaced.. I have a knock around single shot 12 ga. I take on walks with me in the woods . I usually get distracted and fix or find something. Well I set it down Gainst a tree to go look at something down a steep hill.. and then I saw something else ..ect well i got back to house minus the gun.. went out looked for it no luck.. two years later walking there it is.. cleaned it up reblued  it and revarnished stock and it's good as new! Though now it has a sling so I don't have to set it down..

I've lost a wallet once, what a pain in the arse. Credit cards, license, cash..... The theme this year has been losing my IPhone done that twice now.....

I give credit for my weight loss on my memory loss on where I put stuff in a great spot for safe keeping and forget where and go back and forth searching.....

Lost a wallet once. Put it on top of the truck after fishing and drove off. Realized it when I got home. Drove the 35 min back looking the whole way and never found it. But the absolute worse thing I ever lost was a necklace with a angel pendant on it. Probably wasn’t worth much but it was given to me by my grandmother a few years before she passed away. That one still stings a little.

Hunting buddy lost his car keys and wallet this year as we were heading to our hunting spot thanksgiving morning, felt bad for him, but felt even worse when he missed a solid six pointer, he won't even discuss that day, guess it's still a sore spot...

Left a gold necklace in a hotel room in Los Angeles.  Of course they "never found it".  Left a CamelBak back pack in a hotel in Thailand.  Luckily the only things that were in there were sun tan lotion, towel, etc.  Got pick pocket and had my cell phone stolen while stumbling back to the hotel drunk while in the Dominican Republic by a hag on a moped.

years ago I was hunting up in Lewis county in the Payne lake area and i was carrying my Dads old knife.  It had cleaned a million trout for sure, and i was carrying it with me deer huntign for luck.  It was a sheath knife.   I get back to the truck and no knife- it fell out of the sheath and was somewhere in the woods.  And there was snow.  I went back in where I started and it was sticking upright in the snow with the point in the ground.  It was like my Dad helped me find it that day. And I swear - not kidding the sun was shining on it and it reflecting the sunlight.

One time I lost my dads fishing pliers.  Didnt know when or where but they werent in my pack.  A year later i am in osceola with my dogs fishing and one of them keeps digging in the leaves.  I am sitting on the bank and tell her to stop- she does it again, and again.  So i go over there and look and there is my Dads old pliers!!!!   weird.

Both of those are now put away in a shadowbox with my Dads last fishing license and some pictures.

Several days ago, I had a list containing TV programs that I wanted to record. I went out in the kitchen to make a bowl of cereal. By the time I got back and turned on the TV, the list was gone, never again to be seen. I swear there are ghosts in this house. It has been over a week, and that list has never surfaced. By the way, the wife was still sleeping while all this happened, so I know that she didn't move them.

Hds8 head unit.. swear it was in the boat. Probably on the bottom of lake Erie.

I lost my Elite 7 and fishhawk last year.  Bought replacements and then found them both right where I stored em.  Lol

lost my wedding ring but hate wearing a ring anyways.  Never replaced.   Either my wife trusts me or figures I am not in high demand.

i misplace stuff all the time but never loose it. seems like i've mentioned these before.

lost my wedding ring. i thought it slipped off into a deer gut pile and then ended up in bear scat somewhere. searched and greatly disappointed for months. ended up finding it in a pair of disposable dipped palm gloves that i keep in the truck and use to load hay bales. i'd decided that, apparently when i lost it, i'd hang on to the gloves for one more use and then throw them away. good decision.

other thing was my hunting bow.  set the $2,000 bow setup on top of the roof to the car early AM to pack in the rest. got 20 minutes away to my hunting spot and figured out i never took it off the roof. put out signs along the route. mail man called and said he had it. talked with him a while and gave him a finders fee.  just a little road rash but nothing wrong with it and still use it to this day.

Lord only knows how many pocket knives I have lost.  the only thing I can really think of that I lost and really miss is a cheap folding fishing knife with imitation pearl handles on it.

Dad and I were fishing the thousand island region and had stopped at the Clayton docks for bait. I was admiring the fishing knife, and dad bought it for me. It has been long gone for probably forty years, but we had a great day fishing, and I was proud of that knife.

I (or maybe it was the kids) lost the TV remote a few times, and I turn into my 3 yo old daughter when she doesn't get her way when this happens lol. Only to be found when i set down and chill out and think about it for a bit.

Luckily for me ive found everything I have "lost" .. guess i dropped my range finder in the yard one afternoon heading to the stand. Couldnt find it anywhere. Cut the grass and the mower found it! not sure what part of the mower hit it, but it still worked! even after being rained and mowed over for a week and a half.

Im sure there i something i lost that was of some sort of value to me, but my brain cant seem to find anything lol

I lost my rangefinder somewhere in the Selway Wilderness way back when I was on an elk hunting trip back in 2011. Last year I happened to lose 30lbs, seems though that over the year I seem to have found them along with a few extra someone else must have lost. Oh well finders keepers losers weepers.

Wedding rings seem to be theme.

While bagging up old shingles last fall, I somehow lost my wedding ring. I searched the property with a metal detector, but no luck.

My only hope is that it is in the 20 contractor bags filled with shingles that are sitting under the snow and waiting for me to go through them piece by piece in the spring.

Ain't love grand.
