And it did not go well lmao. 20 or so expensive shells down range and I don’t think any of us are terribly confident in our setups. It started with@turkeyfeathers uncasing his daughters shotgun...A few near misses from me and the@sodfather... and finally more near misses from Jay and we all left disappointed. Pretty much the way every sighting in session has ever gone for me. But we had fun. PS, Stellrecht stepped on my coffee and denies it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro8 points

Part of the issue is that we or I like the big lug offroad looking tires and they are not really the best for mileage, noise or snow/rain. So I try to find a happy compromise for the sissy truck. Between duratracs and the AT KO2, I like the quiet ride of the ATs but I will be darned if they will last more than 30k. I probably could push the duratracs to 40k if I could live with the noise as they wear. Both are decent in snow. Or I could skip looks and go to a more traditional road tire but then the raptor will start having a complex, especially since it has a carpeted bed already. lol4 points

To me we have it ass backwards in NY. ( I know....hard to believe). We give the kids the youngest opportunity with the hardest implement. If anything it should be set up to acknowledge the natural profession of skill. Firearm then move on to the more difficult implements. It's stupid the way we have it. At 12 you can bow hunt and can be in a treestand. then you turn 14 and can gun hunt but can't climb into the very same stand you hunted out of for 2 years with your bow.4 points

Personally, I have a problem with denying 2A rights to anyone for having a doctor prescribe them some medical form of cannabis. I know of people suffering from MS who are gun owners. The idea that they should forfeit their rights for a far better pain relief option over opioids is flat out wrong.3 points

You're not done... none of us are! We all screw up and it gets worse as we get older! Sunday I made some venison Italian sausage and packed them to take to have after hockey, I was about 5 minutes from the rink and my wife called me to ask if I was supposed to take the cooler on the kitchen table? The 1 with the sausage in it! Here's your sign!3 points

Went on an early season Adirondack bear hunt two years ago. Buddy of mine said he was bringing in his dad's old 300 savage. When we met there that night after dinner I said let's see that old savage. He opened the case and was just staring. I say " I thought the 300 savage was a lever action?". Yeah he had a .22. He grabbed the wrong gun case when packing and brought a .22 on a bear hunt. Laughed our asses off. I went to the range today too and was playing with some different brands of ammo in a rifle and walked away about the same as you guys did. Couldn't decide if one was better than another.3 points

OMG you guys are ridiculous. I need to make it out to the academy this year.3 points

When I first looked at the picture above I thought it looked like a 10/22 receiver........UGGH, that sucks. Reminds me of my buddy; he has three custom rifles from the same maker and all three sport black kevlar/fiberglass stocks. He grabbed what he thought was a 7mm Mag from the safe and stuffed it in a soft case. The plan was to go from his hunting camp home to Orchard Park then off to the airport the next morning. Well that night at home in OP he pulled the "7mm Mag" from the soft case and was going to pack it into hios traveling hard case when he realized he'd pulled the 416 Remington instead......good thing he had an old Remington 760 in 30-06 stashed at home. Also reminds me of a lugnut who went from his home in Snyder to his hunting spot in East Aurora for a last-morning of ML'r season hunt and forgot to load his gun into the truck. Nice going, Sport.3 points

The world produces about 299 million tons of plastics annually, and up to 20 million tons of it ends up in our oceans each year Estimates suggest that by 2050, our oceans will contain more plastic than fish by weight. Already, in some ocean waters plastic exceeds plankton by a factor of 6-to-1 Research suggests the average person swallows up to 68,415 plastic fibers each year just from the plastic dust particles landing on their plates during meals The average person also ingests about 100 plastic particles each year from shell fish — remnants of microplastic water pollution Tests have revealed bottled water contains on average 325 pieces of microplastic particles per liter — contamination thought to originate from the manufacturing process of the bottles and caps3 points

I just saw a quick piece on IndustrialArts on local news(Fios1). They stated that they are ranked 19 out of 50 national breweries and are opening another site in this summer in Beacon . I will try to find a link to the story . I expected to see JDubs hanging with Aboa, Diplomat and Biz in the background of the on site interview http://fios1news.com/news/garnerville-brewery-receives-national-honor-from-brewers-association/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

This will probably be an unpopular post, but I am mixed to negative on this. I absolutely hate seeing plastic bags (and any kind of trash) in the environment and it wouldn't bother me a bit to use paper bags. But leave it to NY to BAN things in response to misuse by others. It seems like every day I hear or read about something else in NY getting banned. Crazy kid shoots up a school - ban the rifle he used. Stupid people throwing their trash on the roadside - ban the item. Those photos earlier in the thread show other plastic items, not single use grocery bags. So the next knee jerk reaction should be to ban all plastic, not just single use bags. That albatross looks like it's got a shotgun shell and some fishing line in him. We don't want those banned also right? I see coffee cups on the roadside everywhere, and some jerk drops his Dunkin cup on my road every day - I pick those up. NY should ban single use cups and we can all hand our ceramic mugs through the window for a refill at your local Dunkin. And then they have the gall to charge fees to use paper, a freaking renewable and sustainable resource! I've read that it takes several (5 if I remember) tractor trailer loads of paper bags to deliver the same amount of plastic bags that one truck delivers. But that 5X diesel emission pollution must be OK. Just tired of the nanny state making all of my decisions for me. Go ahead, flame me!3 points

Yup totally agree.... Also cant stand the " My dog died today, feels like I lost a family member" ... It is a dog. I have had plenty of dogs. It hurts when they die, but go have your brothers or cousins die in tragic accidents when they are children and tell me if there is a difference......2 points

I dropped a jigging rod down the hole ice fishing before and once forgot my waders to wade stream fishing Clear creek That was cold. I think that concludes my stupidity though.2 points

I was looking forward to cracking one later too but upon pulling one off plastic 4 pack holder it popped. Did make it home and it still had ample carbonation so later became sooner. Now I’ll enjoy this gem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Time for another GTG in Geneva. April okay? Or wait for the end of turkey season so everyone has more stories and lies to tell? Memorial day is the big lake trout derby. I've never fished the derby, but I occasionally go to watch the weigh-ins.2 points

This is already happening. A few months ago, local radio station WBEN in Buffalo did a show on this. A few people phoned in telling there stories of how their guns, ALL guns, were confiscated by NYS because they were legally prescribed medical marijuana.2 points

That would be the problem lol. While I have no faith in NYS government at all. Nor am I an alarmist commy in any way lol. But I will go on the record here as my belief is plastic will probably be what kills us all. Who know how many cancers it has already caused. Once we ruin the food chain and render the water supply useless shit will be a bit bleak. It most likely won't wipe me out but i'm sad for my kids and their future kids as we seem to keep kicking these cans down the road.2 points

there's a good facebook group for this bad boy. Only complaints I've heard so far is that the stickers are hard to get off and the rubber on the nobs is cheap. Otherwise for the price you can't beat it. I've been waiting for it to get warm enough to assemble and I'm hoping this weekend will be it. I've also read that you need a legit extension cord that's the correct gauge or it causes issues with the smoker. First thing I'm doing is finally making some snack sticks the right way haha.2 points

I started off going after larger deer and boy was that a futile adventure. I still enjoy going after them and still pass young deer but sometimes you have to take what is given and enjoy the adventure. Last year was one of my more memorable hunting trips. The excitement on the 2nd year hunters face, eating venison in deer camp of the deer we just dragged out a few hours earlier was amazing.2 points
