Took my buddy to the cabin this weekend. He just wanted to cook over the fire pit. We rigged up an old smoker and placed it on the coals. First night shrimp and NY Strip steak. Second night a 5lb chicken. Came out great!!!! The table is 30 years old. Amish made. Seats 12 but I only have 8 chairs. Two leafs. Amish guy named Alvin made i in Penn Yan. Said the bigger the table the bigger the family. We only had two kids.....lol.

A little small game and coffee in the woods. Great day.

Well picked her up Saturday morning. He told me she's going to be a big girl, so I'm thinking she'll be around 50 pounds

Well Saturdays check went well. 2 coyotes, one on each farm. Sunday we put in a few of the toughest sets I have ever made. The ground was frozen solid about 8" down. Had to chop out every trap bed and I am not looking forward to pulling those anchors out...lol. The first coyote in the pics had mange very bad. Sunday we placed 3 beaver sets. Tough area to do it. The banks on the stream are about vertical for 5-20'. the entire stream is mothing but large gravel. We found the bank den but cant set within 15'. 330 stands were about useless and the only water deep enough for a drowning rig was within that 15' of the den area. We managed to get 3 sets with 330's in so first check will be this morning. I always thought beaver trapping would be in marsh and silt areas but I guess they will go just about anywhere.

Thank you all very much. Yes it was a good day, got a cocobolo striker in to use on my turkey calls that I have been waiting for for a month, got in the final piece I need to use my new 70-300mm lens on my camera as well as an extra battery and charger for the truck to charge camera batteries and most seems to fit into the backpack I bought for my camera gear as well. Now I just have to get out there and do some shooting. I will be going out trapping tomorrow so that may present itself some opportunities for pictures, or at least I hope so. I just stopped in a place near me that sells gun safes, normally they have a ton on the floor. They had 3. The guy told me they are getting harder to get now. His comment was that there are a LOT of new, 1st time gun owners this year and they all want somewhere to keep the gun and ammo they really didn't even want to buy. Makes sense I guess, just like the CEO of Federal said, 7 million new gun owners this year, if every one buys 100 rounds that's 700,000,000 rounds they didn't expect to produce, and people are buying a lot more than 100 rounds.

I had a gut feeling to check my trail camera and I'm glad I did. The Browning Dark Ops camera stopped working. I noticed some moisture inside the camera , so I swapped it out today. All the bait was long gone but did manage to capture a few photos of deer and a young coyote. The cubby opening has great "eye appeal ".

Corey and I did more cutting yesterday and today. The stota side of 7F spot is done for major cutting. Onto the other side next time. This stand ought to be set for next season.
