  5. 40 ? Mine was actually in my 20’s . I married young (I was only 20 couldn’t legally drink at my own wedding) . I knew I wanted a family house etc. at a young age and my friends just wanted to party. So I parted ways early and have no regrets doing so .

  11. Life and personal responsibilities make these changes. I'm 35 now.. I made a TON of friendships over the years through schooling, work, play, family ties and more.. The real reasons people "Disappear" or become lame may never come to the surface. I really miss hanging and doing things with all my good friends, the ones i do still see are typically spent in the hours of darkness calling Cheese Hounds, occassionally chasing spring thunder or the elusives in Fall. Most people dont know and will never understand, but my Special Needs son, Is our #1 priority. And along with him being our priority, my wife has health issues as well.. These two keep me from doing anything anymore especially this time of year. and I cant rule out, my other 2 children who get neglected many times due to my first two priorites.. then trhow work and life on top of that.. Some do become very lame, that cant be denied.. but sometimes there's more to the story than we know.. or think we know..

  12. I did a trade in and worked a deal in an hour tonight. In the end a little haggle on price, a fair amount of negotiation on the trade, a bit of a rebate. What a crazy time to buy a car; they gave me 10% more then I paid for a 2015 vehicle I have owned just over a year and put 22K miles on.I put three oil changes and an inspection into it. Work covered the insurance and paid for the mileage. First time I ever made money on a car, Its nuts. Good luck with new ride.

  19. I've always been lame, turning 40 last year had nothing to do with it. I've always preferred hanging out at a small house party versus going to a bar. I use to go to a lot of shows and concerts when I was younger but that was also when I worked an evening shift and went right from work to the event and still got 6-8 hours of sleep. I still hang out with the same core group of friends but now instead of every other weekend it's every other month and instead of a bar it's at some ones house for dinner and usually with everyone's kids there as well. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Sure the conversations can be lame like what shows are we watching or how much we are paying for cell phone's but in the end we still bust balls pretty good.

  20. So they should buy billions in equipment for the 6" of snow they get a year and melts a day or two later? I wouldn't vote for that. And yes, this state has and probably always will overspend. There are plenty of states that get snow that have way lower taxes than us. I would be willing to bet all of them do....

  21. Yes my taxes went down and yes i own my house. Well the bank and I. I live upstate, my taxes aren't high enough for Salt to matter...and why should the rest of the country pay for our ridiculous taxes here in this overspending state...

  22. Huh? Hurt the middle class???? My taxes went down, gas prices were way down and we didn't have runaway inflation. How the heck did he hurt the middle class. I am the very definition of middle class and i am being hurt NOW!

  23. I think what you described is much more common; people who maintain large circles later in life are the exception to the rule. At least in my opinion. It is hard to build friendships as one ages. Guys are weird sometimes - look at all the same responses here, yet nothing really done about it. It's who we are as a species, maybe. What I have learned as my circles have shrunk and changed, is that we tend to value quality over quantity. Meaning, we may only get together on rare occasions but it's usually for a big reason. Bills game for example. A good friend of mine and I have only been able to get together in person for a playoff game three of the past four seasons. JAX, HOU, and BUF (2020 covid aside). He moved to Florida last spring. We've "lived it up" each time. He flew up for this past weekend's game. It's almost to the point where we don't even plan it, and now we just expect that we're going to be going to the first round game. Outside of that, I haven't been able to connect with him since he moved to FL. But, we pick up right where we leave off. But, guys are guys. We're dumb sometimes. We take too much pride in driving ourselves into the ground like its penance, once we reach the age of "adulthood." It's ok to get old and still have fun with friends from time to time and not be made to feel like you're greedy or irresponsible for doing so.

  24. My life is good because of my actions based on opportunities presented for me. I will take credit for my life, both good and bad. I think America was better off with Trump, then with Biden, but my daily life is the same. Blaming others is an excuse for failure. Too much worrying about others is unhealthy.

  25. Election integrity is the answer to this problem. There were too many things changed by the left in the 2020 election, too many issues regarding fraud, illegal ballots and vote counting, to unequivocally say it was legit. Just looking at who supposedly won should be enough to give anyone pause. The Democrats currently oppose voter ID, but demand it for a COVID test. They say count every vote, but protest when told to only count every legal vote. They demand unverifiable mail in ballots, in addition to already trusted absentee ballots. How do people not see this is a desire to cheat? The Democrats are currently trying to push a "voter's rights" bill through that would allow all of those issues to continue forever and keep them in power forever. They claim they are working to stop voter suppression, yet have never been able to prove anyone has ever been prevented from voting by any of the current laws. That "voter's right" bill is a corruption of voting rights and it will actually nullify opposing legal votes by cancelling them out with illegal ones. That would destroy the country right there. That's not doom and gloom. That's a fact.

  26. My thoughts going along with what most people are saying.. as I get older, family, work and life tend to get in the way of getting out like I used to. Part of the change in dynamic is on me though. As I get older (only 40..), my preferences change. I've got a buddy who's mid-40's and single and still likes to get out to catch a band as often as he can. He'll call me up on an hour's notice. I tend to decline because I need to find a babysitter and can't on an hour's notice. My wife could watch the kids, but depending on how she's feeling, that's not always an option. Along with that though, between the babysitter, food and booze, I'm looking at spending $150-200 bucks on a band that I probably don't like (usually 80's cover bands), staying up past my sleepy time, and losing half of the next day because I went out the night before. That's just not me anymore. Another aspect of the live shows though is that my taste in music has changed. When I was in high school, I went to hundreds, maybe thousands of shows. I went to everything from garage punk at the Water Street Music Hall to the Warped Tour at LaSalle Park to Woodstock at Griffis AFB. If it was a live show and was in WNY, I was there. Now I'd rather head over to SPAC or CMAC for Rascall Flats, Little Big Town or Toby Keith. Tastes change, people change. It's life.

  28. Every red blooded American who isn't against stopping this attack on US history. History happened. You don't try to eliminate it. It is there for all to learn from. Destroying it is an attempt to change the truth, by forces that wish to control the public's mindset. It's what every Communist regime around the world has always done when it was seeking to come to power. It's evil.

  34. It seems to me both sides are using the platform of voter fraud. Both were setting it up far before the last Presidential election. Trump and Biden both spoke about it many times basically so they could use it when they lost. So if both the left and the right believe that voting is being tampered with how are we supposed to have any faith in anything they do. Isn't the whole voting system broke then? Or is it more they are just using it as a talking point against each other. Which I believe is the most likely. Is there some fraud or inpropriaty? Of course. But I find it hard to believe the folks at the local legion are in on some great conspiracy. I tend to believe more that BOTH sides are just using it as a division hot topic to get their base fired up. The same way both sides are using Covid. The system isn't the problem. The politicians on both sides have just made me sick of them both. I am far more supportive of the platform of the conservative right so I vote that way , and then not have an ounce of faith in any of them.

  39. I grew up in the country, and moved to a small city for 10 years, and really got caught up in the rat race. I moved back to the country a little over 2 years ago. Moving back in the country, being more self sufficient, helping neighbors, bartering services, and slowing down life has been very satisfying. Being a little fish has huge advantages.

  41. Yep. Things change. 10 years ago I was going out a lot, hanging out with a different group of people most of the time, etc. Kids, job and personal responsibilities change peoples priorities. Now at 45, most of my time with friends is tied to hunting and fishing. I’ve been out to bars maybe 7-8 times in the last couple of years. It wouldn’t have been much more than that if Covid hadn’t happened either.
