She looked bigger at 70 yards, but I'll take it. Heats off, now I can stop stressing and look for a big buck or bear.

QlQuiet morning out there again.  

   

Got into the field and I didn't have my hunting boots- no idea what I did with them yesterday- either they're back at the house (not on the boot dryer) or I left them where I parked last night after changing.

 

Clearly I need some sleep- burning the candle at both ends since Friday.

This guy showed himself this morning and tripped my trigger. Another heart shot, so we’re gonna be out after another doe for the rest of the week.

Thanks! I should have taken a pic of the deer right away. He ran down a pretty steep drop off and his antlers got hung up on a tree and we found him hanging there. I didn’t even think to snap a pic.

Had a bunch of does feeding in the cut beans last night. Waited to the last second for a big one to show. He didn't. At 200 yds the 165 grain Nosler BT exploded her heart.

In the spot my Dad’s tree stand was. I first started hunting here which him when I was 6 or 7. His tree fell many years ago but I decided to put a ladder stand up. Let’s see what happens.

A doe caught me off guard this morning as I was getting ready to leave.  Figures, the whole hill is  snow covered except where she was standing.  But the wind was in my favor so I just stood still and she drifted off calmly.  
 

Managed to put another couple hours into this elevated blind I’ve been working on for weeks here and there. In it now, and being mostly closed in it feels pretty nice out of the wind. 

The one draw back though  is; I am not a builder, so it feels a little wiggly to me.  And, now I can’t get the theme song and opening scene from F Troop out of my head!  : 0

A lot of nice deer taken so far, congrats and good shooting. 

Anyone having much luck in Letchworth yet? I was out there Sunday morning, saw a doe and a few hunters tracks. I'll be in the park tomorrow am, then Fri and Saturday, hoping to see a shooter.

Where is Daniel T?  He usually started a letch~thread.

Thank you! I never saw this buck before today, and I’m judging by body characteristics. I could be off, I saw him on the hoof for long enough to think “that will work” lol.

Went out today and didn't score (plenty hunting time left )  Apparently the local Coyotes are eating good !

Be out in the morning at my opening day spot.  Didn’t go today and last sit I didn’t see anything there but tracks all over and they blew the scrape wide open.  Only looking for a buck. Would like 2.5 or older but we will see what gets the juices flowing in the morning.

Took fam out today, I saw button, 4pt, 2 doe and of course they saw nothing. They woulda shot any with a youth hunter who hasn’t gotten one.

I really wish I had taken a pic of it hanging in the tree. It was the wildest thing I’ve ever seen. He had jumped or flipped into the tree I circled, and his antlers were around the trunk about 6 feet high, holding him straight up with his rear hooves touching the ground. My son and I were confused as to what he was doing when we crested the hill lol.

Had a decent opening weekend with 9 being dropped. One pretty decent 10 and a couple 8’s. Doe tags were filled so the trip was another success. Not many bigger fellas on Cam’s in the area this year. This guy is the biggest I could find so it’s him or bust unless a bigger guy shows up on the scene. He plays the game well, had him close a couple times during bow but not close enough. The game continues….

In stand.  Had a deer blast out of the bushes within ten yards of me when I was almost to my stand. Thought it was going to crash right through me.  Good grief! That was a rush!
