Gas Prices are much lower in other states. Why?

I just paid 240 yesterday

NY adds .45 to a gallon in state tax and the federal govt adds another .19 per gallon.  We pay .64 per gallon in taxes.  That's more than $12 to put 20 gallons in your tank.

The govt is making more money per gallon than the oil companies do.

Less regulation and tax 

When I went to California this summer gas was around 3.80 $4  and one was at 4.35 I think was the highest I saw crazy

Like stated ,.45 cents per gallon goes to the state,they collect just shy of like 4 billion a year that is supposed to go towards the infrastructure but only 20 percent of the tax goes where it's supposed to ,the rest is spent covering debt I believe.

Back when prices wee through the roof Ny decided if they added taxes people will buy less of it.

I felt like I stole it today in Honeoye when I filled up for $2.49 Same price in Hemlock too but the power was out from last nights storm.
