This is a forum shout out and thank you to @Enigma who I met this morning. He saw one of my threads about the general shortage of trap shooting ammo, and he PM’d me that he had a lot of it and was willing to help meet my needs. A few months ago he even offered to go to his local Bass Pro to see if there was a Cabelas Wooltimate Pullover in my size available. He got 3 jars of homemade tomato purée, a bottle of homemade wine, and our family meatball and sauce recipe for his good deeds! Great guy and it was a pleasure to meet you! Hopefully there will be a CNY GTG soon!20 points

As some of you know, we've been looking to down size a bit, and have been house hunting. Was looking for something with a bit less upkeep, to free up time for other things, as we get closer to retirement. We found it and signed the papers yesterday! It's all we were looking for and more!!! Smaller yard and driveway. A huge, clean, semi finished basement, for reloading bench, workshop, and a nearly 20 yard archery range! All in a quiet, nice neighborhood in west Rotterdam. The wife has her new everything kitchen. And all on one level but a spare bedroom! And still only a 20 minute drive to our 700 plus acres of heaven at the farm! Already looking forward to some yard work and landscaping. Will PM Biz for pointers! The wife and I are so very excited to start a new chapter in our lives! Just wanted to share our good news, about our forever home!10 points

Most states celebrate “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” on March 29 or 30 of each year. Though there is some debate, March 29 is generally viewed as a more appropriate date. On that day in 1973, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil. It is also the date President Nixon chose for the first Vietnam Veterans Day in 1974.4 points

Heading to Ohio Saturday. Been looking for a NE Ohio opportunity relative to drive time as opposed to SE or central Ohio. Excited to have likely found one - two farms 10 miles apart; one with hills/hollers, and some cattle fenced in on a small chunk. Other flat ag land and a chunk of timber as part of a larger woods. Will make it much easier to get there for hunts on short basis - plus we can keep a camper on site if we want to get all fancy down the road. Looking forward to it and hoping it lays out similar to aerials and contours. 225 acres across both farms with about 55 acres of timber on each. Fingers crossed.4 points

Wekiwa Springs, FL Did some kayaking and swimming. Also hit up a natural spring near by for swimming The natural spring had a underwater cave that was about 30 feet deep where the water was rising out of. Really cool.4 points

The problem with everyones thoughts on what legislation or laws would help is NONE will work ZERO, NADA ,ZILCH. A criminal will not I repeat will not try and buy a gun, there are so many ways to get any gun illegally. Just look at the poster child for gun control Chicago..4 points

Took almost two months to get here, but we’ll worth the wait. I wanted a muzzle loader shotgun for a few years, but kept looking for a used one well I gave in and bought a new pedersoli 12 ga. sxs and couldn’t be happier it’s beautiful. I’m going to try some turkey and small game hunting with it. I’d also like to try a little sheet shooting if I can find a range up by me. Hoping to shoot it in a few weeks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

This is also my first time using a roll crimper(thanks let em grow) it took me a few tries and I still think I pressed to hard. I’m going to head up to my house soon and give them a shot with this shortage going on I’m looking at all my options. Again a special thanks to @let em grow I might leave out the over shot card next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Dont always think it's a hunter, had a owl hooter set.off a gobbler I was sitting under, he gobbled everytime and the guy kept.closing 100 yards and hooting, got to 200 yards and then closed to 50 yards and hooted , so I yelled to protect myself" hey get out of here!!" Quiet for 10 min then 50 yards off to my.left hooting again, bird 30 yards in front of me is going nuts!! So I picked up a crow call and just blew on it as hard as I could to let the guy know I was there.. and low and behold a barred owl flys up a d lands 10 ft.from me and hoots.. Quite embarrassing trying to get an owl to leave I thought for sure was a hunter running the ridge....2 points

Thank you @Otto. The pleasure was mine. Reaching out and offering a positive bump to genuine people is easy when you know they'd do the same. Your generosity in return proves my point. Quite a few folks on here do it all the time I'm sure. Pay it forward and "do unto others", especially in today's times. Put your positive thoughts into action. Not much more complicated than that imho. So . . . can we just stop right now with the impinging of my online character? I work hard at maintaining the "no nonsense grumpy father" persona and some of you are just killing my groove lol. We can set up a virtual group hug for later today if some of you need it but I'd rather shift the discussion to killing turkeys and a CNY GTG haha. I hereby nominate Tony as official planner and activities director. All in agreement say "aye".2 points

Done really well the past couple days with BW.. A "clean energy" play that seems to be getting a lot of attention with the new administration's policy/direction.. They have had a tough couple of years, but appears they have things back on track. Analysts think there is still much upside. Never heard it talked about here, so thought I would share...2 points

I have the opportunity to materially leverage but I haven't yet. That said, I'm finding I enjoy the reward of being successful in my own right or with my hunting partner. I'm not much for getting access and being placed in a stand that has been scouted/hunted/strategized. I may regret it down the road and my wall might be a little lighter on inches comparatively, but I'm OK with that. What it has done is helped me fund hunting related adventures / future property purchase, etc. It's a very tough market with low margins but thankfully I have a niche that works well.2 points

There’s a big difference between a firearm and a chainsaw. A chainsaw can hurt you if you’re doing everything correct, a gun cannot. Every new gun I’ve purchased for as long as I can remember has came with a red and white card with the 4 firearm safety rules. If you follow them a firearm is as safe a the tv on your wall. Yes 100% it’s not the governments job to ensure she’s trained! It’s hers! There’s plenty of training available. A white male is almost 20x’s more likely to be injured or injure someone with a chainsaw than a handgun in America. Is there a mandatory class to buy a chainsaw? My wife has found a way to do this three times over the past 10 years in two different households. It's borderline impressive. I've now physically blocked the switch in this house. Going on two years. Fingers crossed. Sorry to see, but friends will usually donate!!!! LOL.2 points

With the vaccine being in relatively short supply and appointments tricky to manage, I agree that there is no pressing concern for healthy young folks - nevertheless, from the perspective of societal benefit, it will be important to get as many as possible vaccinated ASAP once our most at-risk have been taken care of. Less unvaccinated folks means less transmission means less mutation, but it takes a quorum to achieve that so-called "herd immunity". I know it feels like we're guinea pigs. That's how population health works, though. I truly believe that we are emerging from the worst of it.2 points

Go to midway, there's 30 different 308 bullets in stock for an 06. Including some 165gr ttsx. Ain't cheap plinking load, but they are right up there at the top for hunting and a perfect match for that cartridge. Plenty hornady and Nosler choices there too. Put email in for stuff that's ok to backorder, I got everything from there to roll rounds for next trip. It took a spell, like a couple of months, but it all came.2 points

4 years of our last president and my retirement investments nearly doubled, my taxes went down, the border was more secure and he got nearly all the troops out of an endless war just to name a few. It that the middle class cares about any of that... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

This day and age ,what is it that the Democrats have to offer the working middle class ?all they care about now is idolizing criminals, taxing us more ,worrying about special interest groups ,and destroying this country ,like we have seen since the current joke of a presidency has entered in .Old folks need to understand, this ain’t the Democrats of the 70s2 points

I think a reasonable gun control law would stipulate the penalty of death by hanging or electrocution to anyone who commits a crime with a gun. Such a law would be aimed at the criminals, rather than law abiding folks, like all those currently being suggested by the Democrats are. It would also limit the burden on law abiding folks for feeding and housing the criminals who are found guilty. It really boggles my mind why anyone would believe that a criminal would abide by a law. How can folks be that ignorant?2 points

1. Personal protection form enemies overseas and domestic. Per their original intent the domestic includes a government that is no longer for the people and by the people 2. So are you good with requiring insurance policies by gun owners as well? What other "right" do we require training and a course to participate in? 3. That would probably be a great idea before you form an opinion on the subject. The AR is NOT automatic. Doesn't even stand to "assault rifle". The biggest problem I see with gun owners that don't have an issue with the "common sense gun control" that has been rolled out in the past and proposed in the future is they know about as much about the topic and the firearms as the ones writing the laws. Look at the "evil features" that make an firearm an assault weapon in the Safe Act. REALLY look at them and understand how stupid that listing is. When you understand what they are banning then really look at traditional old hunting weapons and tell me how much of a stretch it is for someone that owns grandpa's Remington 740 in 30-06 to be worried about it being included in the ban.1 point

Electrical inspection approval required plus utility notification necessary. Doubtful that your set-up would fly. Go through the proper steps so as to avoid getting some utility worker killed.1 point

.0000149% of ar’s in the us were used in a homicide in 2019. An extra course and a few years all for that? Seems real stupid to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
