  4. Always fun to take my wife out for a little preseason freezer filling adventure. We were covered up in deer for the past couple of evenings including several nice bucks that would have been in trouble had it been November. Can't wait to get back out thursday! 5. Took it apart on the truck, pulled 164 nails (not OCD, just kept count as I went). Screwed it back together in the garage (no, didn’t keep track of screws - lots), roughed out ports, and did a cobb job with the door panel and some hardware I had laying around. Got some white oil base primer and will paint flat gray to finish. Neighbor will do a backyard spray camo job after it’s painted. Might make some sliding plywood panels to cover the windows just to get through this year, and I still have to come up with a roof idea. Some framing work and a carpet and should be good to go.

  7. I posted this on FB last night....Seriously, I’m not into drama. Someone mentioned me being an essential worker, and after thinking about it, I’m going to consider myself one. What‘s the difference between me and a store employee? Nothing....we’re both supplying food. I’m open for business.

  10. Can’t confirm, but heard from a pretty reliable source today, that the DEC is evaluating Stewart forest , for whether or not to allow deer hunting this year. That would be a great help to the herd there!

  11. Our tracking season cannot start until October 6. I spent a couple weeks hunting in Idaho and I’ve have to quarantine for two weeks upon returning. The Health Department had screeners as I got off the plane in Syracuse, and they now text me every day. I’ve had to turn down three bear tracks so far and it’s killing me! Since the state issues my tracking license, I’m not taking any chances and will wait this out.

  12. Hung this bad boy up today. No more pulling a rope to hoist up deer. Rope and pulley worked great for years but we were all ready for something easier. Picked it up at harbor freight for 99$. 440 pound capacity, should work great for deer. Although the first one i bought was faulty and i needed to exchange it.

  14. It sounds like versatile likes her. Speaking of talented women, Trump's new Supreme court justice seems to be very good. I especially like her strong Christian values, which should help out immensely with overturning Roe vs Wade. It is hard to imagine a better pick and it is totally awesome that there is not a damn thing that the misguided atheist Democrats can do to stop it.

  15. Picked up one of these HME practice hangers from Amazon earlier in the summer, it has worked out well, it is solid and light weight so it is easy to move around and sells for $35. Slung a few out of the Oneida Eagle this afternoon and have to say this bow is really growing on me, likes the old Easton XX75s and lays them in there pretty well. Al

  17. Humbling is a good term for sporting clays, Mike... I shot my first round up at Rochester Brooks a few years back I considered myself a better than average wingshot on game, and I had burned a few 50 straights at skeet and done fairly well at trap.. I walked off the course with my dick in the dirt...

  20. Just had a Treeguy sighting at the Goat. He caught me as I was walking out; my wife and I had dinner with a [much younger] couple who are friends of ours. Funniest part was when Andrew asked if she [our female friend] was my wife, and her husband of less than a week said "I wish!"! Andrew had me take a selfie with him so he'd have proof of life photo.

  21. @SportsmanNH yup all the creature comforts ha. My son owns his own construction company and told me he was going to do some siding and windows I got home to find insulation Wiring. I think he knows it’s going to be his one day so I really can’t complain I think it would be nice to have heat and electric at some point considering I said up there in a ground blind for 5 years before we put the building up. I told my son after I saw this that we might as well finish the bottom at some point with some beds and kitchen area. Stay in the bottom hunt in the top won’t have to leave for the whole season we can FaceTime with the wives if they like but they’re not allowed out there.

  23. Went to the range yesterday afternoon and confirmed my thermal's are all sighted in and ready to go. All thermal and NV spotters too, plus checked my E caller and even practiced with the reed calls on the way back down from the range. Batteries charged, magazines loaded and I'm even gonna load some extra rounds during the week. Going to get my hunting license today and do some interweb searching for a foxpro fusion caller, as I'm in need of a caller upgrade and I like the bigger screen of the TX1000 controller better than the TX9 wildfire controller. With the fusion, you can program call sequences and focus on looking for prey, not worrying about the caller. Looking to take Friday off from work and head upstate Thursday PM and get down to business right away. Remember that the season starts after sunrise on the 1st, not midnight. Good luck. SJC

  24. Shipping crate that I grabbed from work. It would have been discarded, so I discarded it right into the back of my truck. Just what I needed, a deer blind project days before deer season.

  25. It sounds like you have to excellent places to hunt, I wouldn't sweat it too much, just think about the wind and go with your gut feeling. But most importantly, have fun and enjoy the hunt.

  28. They? As in the thieves? I dont expect them to read it here. It's "general chit chat" though. Just ranting some today about the general stupidity and short sightedness of some of our fellow NYers. And how business gets taken care of in rural CNY when you screw with honest hardworking people. Cuomo's bail reform isn't going to apply in this case of larceny lol.

  29. I was out back practicing trap bedding it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. One thing for sure I’m getting a set of trap setters my wrist are shot for that. I used a duke trap, but on the line I’m using mb550’s just didn’t want to mess with the wax also I’m going to use pipe insulation under the pan. I have three spots picked out on my property one is going to be a dirt hole, flat and a step down set. Going with yote pee to hopefully keep the fox and cat away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. The biggest rack I ever saw, including on tv, was on Burma rd coming back from the inlet late one night a few years back. We were driving along and this guy popped his head up about 7-8 yards from the truck. I counted 14 points with more to go when he turned and disappeared. The North shore has monsters, too. My friends kid shot this one 3 years ago in NIssequogue.

  41. On page 3 of this thread, I responded to the alleged outrage over the possibility that there might not be a smooth transfer of power if Trump were to lose the 2020 election. I must have written it in invisible ink, or perhaps it flew over the heads of those I was responding too. Or, perhaps it was too touchy a subject to try and address in any credible manner how Hillary, the left wing media, government agencies, and the never Trumpers violated that very principle. Here 5 pages of posts later, this thread has deteriorated to the point that people are being called "stupid", as well as inferring and/or implying in a disgusting passive aggressive manner that members here are racist. Good natured debate and differing opinions are one thing, but some of you are hitting a troubling new low on this site.

  43. Wrap the body with cellophane a few layers thick. Buy a can of low expanding foam , not the high expansion .poke and fill center. Using tube on top of can, let dry remove cellophane and shot for another few years. Cost about 8 bucks If you want can then paint brown again or whatever color you want .

  44. Got my results today. One is benign, the other was not benign - but had not become cancerous yet. It was removed and a follow up colonoscopy is supposed to be in 7 years, which I think is way too long for someone my age. Will have a follow up appointment with the gastro and my regular Dr. to learn more. Just googled some if it and I would rather not try to decipher all the possibilities and scenarios until I talk to the professionals. Good news/ bad news - but overall more good than bad.
