What kind of work do you do?

I have been a self employed mason for the last 19 years. I build chimneys,fireplaces,stonewalls and patios. It is a pretty good gig,somewhat seasonal and i learned to use my head more than my back,so i feel like i am in pretty decent shape. I didn't ruin my body before i started working smarter.

We also have a hobby farm of sorts,so i got fairly good with a chainsaw,also with carpentry ,our house is 200 years old,also plumbing and a few other things. 

I can work right now,only the rocks and me since i work by myself. Most of my clients are loaded,so i dont expect much as far as canceled jobs.

Hi Bill. Not sure what chemical she needs, all my engraving is done by sandblasting the artwork into stone, glass, sign foam, marble  cement, etc. I'm chemical free!

Most of my  adult life I've been self employed. Started out selling firewood transitioned into building. Everything from the ground up. Like quite a few trades people , I'm better at trades than running a business. 2 totally different skill sets.

For the past 5 years I've been running the construction division for a small company. Only 6 of us in our division. Title says construction supervisor/manager..Depends upon the day.. estimater,laborer,carpenter,plumber,electrician,foreman.. I'd say mostly teacher/guide. I tell the guys that when the day comes that they dont need me I'm retiring. I dont know if that day will ever come.

Looks like many of you guys work with your hands so you know the next generation...lol

Started in sales at a record store then was buyer for store,, taught secondary ed learned I hate kids today, went into construction enjoyed that a lot did a lot of tile work commercially,  realized I couldnt do that kind of work my whole life, went to work on the railroad , started as conductor and been an engineer for last 14.  

Grew up on a farm and basically hobby farm for food wildlife now and still work on railroad.. 12 years left to go and I'm out..

Also have been a soccer referee for 24 years. I worked my way up the ladder over the years and have the pleasure of working high level games(Professional, Amateur, College, HS) all over the state. This job provides some extra income and alot of exercise....but most importantly has built many lasting relationships

Flagpole salemen.

I'm the salesman for a local flagpole/sign and banner shop. I installed flagpoles for 6 1/2 years and now have been the salesman and installation manager for the past 18 months. 

I still go out and help on the larger projects for poles that are 35'-100'. The poles require atleast 2 people.

I am a cnc mill operator most of the time. I take production jobs and make them more profitable and easier to run. I learned through an adult BOCES class like 25 years ago. I came out ready to work, and had lots of more experienced machinists help me through the years. I am always learning new stuff, and making no or little profit jobs into money makers ended up being my little specialty in the company I work for.

I retired from law enforcement after 24 years, with my last 8 years being assigned in the Criminal Investigation Division. Now I'm employed as Corporate Security for a large corporation. So far I've been there for about 6 years.
