  2. Since I didn’t hunt last year, it’s been some time since shooting my bow . I bought a HHA single pin slider and started sighting it in today. I was pretty happy with how i shot , this is my first group after rough sighting it in at 20. I still have to fine tune it yet as my archery muscles were a bit out of shape so I stopped ( quality over quantity ) . Sure did feel good to get out and shoot the bow though ..

  6. Should this go under the 2021 thread or back under the 2020 thread? Due to the mild fall, I was still picking kale and brussel sprouts into December (I think). Then just never got around to pulling the plants as winter set in. Now, the plants from last year seem to be picking up where they left off. I'm already pulling kale and using it!

  13. Got the opportunity to take a youth out this season. The kid has been raised around hunting but in the past year he's been involved with some rough times. He talks daily of wanting to get out hunting some gobblers. I haven't been out in years, kina lost the passion and only cared about whitetails. Well I decided im taking this kid out. Told him yesterday he could join me, he eyes lite right up. Now im all sorts of excited to get out there and chase some gobblers. I guess I should be thanking him for getting my passion back. Hopefully we'll get some yard birds to take a dirt nap.

  14. Just went for a drive by a piece of stateland that I know has birds and I found them. Just have to figure out roost the next couple days. There was 6 gobblers 3 jakes,1 bearded hen in a field we can hunt. I'm pumped now for this weekend. My other spot I had in mind always has birds but these one should be easier to get at as long as we get to them first.

  18. These two yellow bellied sapsuckers were going at it in the air and then our house got in the way. Heard them both hit the second story window and then saw them hit the deck, one of them right in front of me. Was just looking out the lower window when they crashed. No breathing, dead on impact. One of them still has feathers in his beak from the other. So, the obvious question is...deep fried or roasted?

  26. Keep an eye on new acquisition pitcher Garrett Whitlock. He appears to be the real deal as evidenced by a great spring training that has continued into the regular season. He and his wife rented a condo in our community this spring and I had the chance to get to know him.....very respectful and humble kid. He’s a big bowhunter and is coming to hunt my property in November.

  28. The muscles used to draw a bow are the levator scapulae it is located in the upper back and it aids in back tension by pulling the shoulder blade in and up toward the neck. This muscle works together with the trapezius and rhomboids to create what is referred to as “back tension” and is used to hold the bow back at full draw. The trapezius and rhomboids are also located on the upper back and provide the ability to move the shoulder blade towards the spine as well as up and down. A strong upper back is essential , with not only the ability to produce force but also the ability to hold weight steady for an extended period of time.

  32. Fall spots are not same as spring,, listening dont use a turkey call at all, try a hawk scream , or loud crow calls, even a elk bugle. Had one time that use to answer a horse whinny from across the street. Put boots on ground fresh droppings in pile under roost trees, can see drag Mark's on logging roads, tracks in mud and visual observation. East facing slopes are prefered especially if fairly steep. You may find melted feathers in areas of roost trees as well. You may need several differnt locator calls , a silent dog whistle works as well ,I have more locator calls including sever different owl shooters, almost more than turkey calls I carry..

  35. I have my route all planned out , the liquor store up the road has 9 bottles of Hendrix Lunar gin in stock ( limited release ) , so I’ll go there first . Then head east to Target and grab a PS5 and some LEGO’s oh and a new IPad . Then over to Dicks ( I figure that’s ok since I’m not paying ) and grab a few pair of sweet Nikes , maybe a new pair of Muck boots ,perhaps grab some beef jerky at the door on the way out ,oh maybe put it all in yeti cooler ! Do they make ones with wheels ? Something to,think about , folks are talking about the Drs. Testimony, Drs kill over 250,000 people, a year through , “ medical mistakes “ ! Yikes hand full of cops dont follow policy a few die and the country burns . A Dr kills someone , calls his attorney, goes home and plays golf .

  38. My sister had a condo there for 40 years or so, they just rent it out , and go down a little bit to play golf, which I guess is good down there. They go end of Aug when water is warm and kids there are in school . I recall going to the store ,where they’d give you junk chicken pieces ,and we’d put them on a hook and line ( no pole ) and walk across the road ( condo was on the ocean ) and throw the baited hook in those channels over there , some sort of crab would grab ahold and you’d pull them up ,take them home and cook them up .

  41. We've been to MB several times. My in-laws have a condo in North Myrtle Beach. We are not into the touristy stuff. Mostly just play golf and go to the beach when we are down there. We like eating at the Flying Fish at Barefoot Landing in NMB. Barefoot Landing has a bunch of other restaurants and shops. Alligator Adventure is pretty neat for a half day activity. We have been to Hampton Plantation (south of Myrtle Beach) which is a state run historical site and was pretty cool. I always pick up a couple pairs of sneakers at the New Balance store at the Tanger Outlets. Of course, if you golf, there are hundreds of courses. Oh, and if you are driving, you have to bring back some fireworks.
