  4. I'm here! I exist. Unfortunate loss in the family on Saturday, so its been hectic. Brought my deer to Bleu's in Schoharie. The blood trail was not great but he didn't go far. I set up between food and bedding and just got lucky. I knew there were good deer back there but with two trailcams stolen, I was out there blind, standing next to a tree. I'll be getting out with my wife this week and see if we cant get her to connect for the first time. Thank you for all the congrats and good luck to everyone. Ill get more involved now that I can earn really cool badges!

  9. I love instagram. Without IG, I'll have to physically attend a college football game saturday in order to get my fix of watching the current most patriotic thing- "F U Joe Biden" chants.

  10. Something is telling me to get in the woods this afternoon. I just ran home on my lunch break quick grabbed my bow and stuff. Gonna leave the office by 3 and should be in a stand by 345. Hopefully it stays overcast and no rain. Good luck to everyone that's hunting today.

  11. Not that a deer can't be killed in warm weather, it certainly can, and does happen. But hunting in it is not as fun for me. We have some work planned to do up at the farm for the next couple of weeks Also a long weekend coming up! I may try the last hour or so in the evening here or there. Will save all the "good" spots for later, when things pick up. Got some vacation time to use in November!!

  14. For those interested……it appears the fawn succumbed to EHD. The 2 emaciated deer on my trail camera might have CWD.

  23. If I was to be serous I'd say it had something to do with Frances Haugen speaking out before she was supposed too. I should check in on a few people I know to make sure they are OK. They have phones glued to their faces being on FB from the time they get up until they go to bed.

  24. I didn't, but if I did in the rain at the same spot as yesterday I may have shot this buck.

  25. Wolf is sighted and ready to go. 4 shot group inside three inches shooting from a table and a blanket as a rest. Again, thank you to @sbuff, @rachunter, and @silent death for helping me out with a few items I was having an issue locating. The generosity has been payed forward- sent a buddy some care items while he's recovering from muscle repairs in his arm. Also sent another buddy a little donation to help him out with some medical bills his mom is having a hard time covering.

  29. Duck was so good I waited two days to try it again. Pan seared duck breast with french fingerling potatoes from the garden cooked in the left over duck fat. Also snuck some carrots in with the potatoes. To my surprise the FRENCH potatoes didn't give up any taste after par boiling. I always thought everything french gave up at the first sign of adversity.

  31. Was there for my brother's wedding a couple years ago. If your single, there is hunting to be had out there. Swim from pool bar to pool bar and you should see something.

  35. Cams are one tool in the tool bag. They capture some intel that we cannot because we're not in the woods 24/7. Trail cams however do make people lazy sometimes, they can give people false pretenses, and they take images or lack of at face value. No different than over-relying on one tactic for any other part of hunting.

  36. Binos are worth their weight in gold. So are RFs if you are not capable and have practiced without known distances from ground and stand. I have a pair of Vortex Diamondbacks 10x42 - in great condition. I am missing the small one piece eye cover (the rubber cover that you pull off when using). Extremely low use and I am the original owner. If you want, I'll get them over to you for $100 shipped. RFs, beyond the basic junk, are in low supply. I sell a fair amount of them but at this time of year I stop stocking because demand falls off and they sit for another 6-8 months, then sell like crazy again. I have sold ALOT of the Sig Sauer Kilo RFs; in fact I sold more of them than Bushnell RFs this year. I really like mine.

  37. Shipping costs are the killer for online ordering of powder and ignition supplies. Bob’s Bait Shop in Corinth usually has good supply, though I haven’t been in this year.

  38. Central NY is a desert....Runnings has a bunch of stuff, but it is very inline oriented ( I am traditional patch and ball). I get everything online. Track of the Wolf is good, and very quick with shipping. Dixie Gun Works has been around a long time, but their web site stinks and shipping is slow. Primers...I would call locally. Remember, worse case scenario with shotgun type primers...you can use shotgun primers. Just check them for ignition first, especially with black powder substitutes. Ra-lins in Syracuse had black powder last thursday, you might call them if you need powders or primers.

  41. I will be taking my 13 yr old son out for his first time being allowed to shoot a deer. He told me he wants to shoot a 6 pointer or bigger. I told him he can shoot anything he wants if decides any different when we actually see a deer. We'll see how it goes. I just ran out to my blind and put out 2 new fold out chairs and got soaked.

  43. IMHO , all forms of calling are effective in early season, except perhaps hard loud rattling... Back when I was bowhunting my main strategy involved calling rather than sitting over food sources, and my hunting buddies and I called in lots of bucks pre-rut with grunting and light rattling sequences...
