Trico - rest in peace Buddy!

Yesterday, I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to put down my Brittany, Trico. He was 15 and due to a rapid decline of his health, we decided it was time.

Trico was a tremendous dog - a great family pet Monday to Friday and would turn on his hunter instinct once he saw my bird jacket come out. The more thorn-choked and sloppier the terrain the better as he reveled in getting birds up from nasty places with no quit in him. I will never forget the “over the shoulder, are you shitting me?” look he would give me when I missed a bird he put up.

He was a gift from my wife for my first Father’s Day after Maggie was born and he stood as a constant reminder of her love for me. My wife is not a “dog person” but was willing to humor me and always cared for him and made the doggy-sitting arrangements when we were away.

Hunt ‘em up, Trico! Find the bird!

So Sorry...  I am tearing up as I read this, as I lost my Springer earlier this year and it sounds like they were a lot alike..  We are so fortunate to have a good dog in our lives, but it makes it that much tougher when we lose them...

Very sorry to hear about Trico.  Great tribute to a great dog!

I was a mess saying goodbye to my 16 yo lab, Jake.  What helped was knowing that he had as peaceful a passing as I could have given him.  When @grampy told me he believes we would meet again one day, I took it to heart.  Trico's spirit will be with you always.  I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
