Stand vs Ground

Those that found success this season did you do it from a stand or from the ground?

 

I'll go first. Both mine have been from the ground no blind close range.

Both for me actually. All my bow kills were from a stand this year, but my rifle kill was from the ground

2 deer this year. 1 from a climber and the other from a ground blind

Got 8 during bow. He came in to 12 yds on field edge to my doe decoy. 

Got an bigger 8 last weekend with shotgun. Came through a funnel to 15 yds following does.

I was on the ground sitting on a fold up chair behind a burlap blind for both hunts.

Not sure on how to answer the poll. Took an xbow doe from a ground blind and a rifle buck from a ladder stand.

Doe was my first deer from the ground in quite a few years. Was pretty cool.

One of the cooler hunts was from the ground, but all kills from stand.

Yeah I probably should have put a few more options. Just wanted to get a feel for how many were getting it done from the ground this season.

Standing against a tree or on the ground or stump sitting on my hot seat with my back against a tree or something else to break up my silhouette.

It's what ever you like .

You can get close enough from the ground to get a shot off on a deer .

But I have gotten closer with a tree stand .

But in my mind for the most part it's not really necessary  to use a tree stand to hunt .  Probably better if you bow hunt where getting close is definitely better . But no deer is going to move out of the way from a  bullet like they can move away from a arrow . So when gun hunting I never use tree stands .

Opening day i sat on a ridge in a blind chair behind some downed trees where they were out of range during bow... Had 5 doe and a 2.5 year old buck cross in front of me all less than 25 yds. I'm after a couple bucks in particular still so I passed on them but I definitely might have more ground kills than stand kills...

Both for me as well. Buck with bow from climber at 15 yards and doe with crossbow from ground brush blind 12 yards.

Both bucks this year were shot from the ground.

Been quite a few years since any deer I've killed, has been above the ground.

I voted "ground" for my buck kill from the ground.

I shot two bucks this year. The first was from a 12-ft high metal ladder stand with the crossbow and my second was from a 8-ft high permanent wood stand during the rifle. Stand hunting is my preference.

Everything pretty much I kill is from a stand, just about all my properties are small and walking around would just ruin them.

I got one from the stand one from the ground,no blind. Both were with the bow. I have not been in a stand since gun opened,i dont have the patience to sit for hours and see no deer. If i see no deer i want to at least be still hunting,that way i can see no deer in more places.

Got one on the ground this year and that's where you will find me anymore. At 71yo, I don't worry about he fall. LOL  FT
